Rhodes 222
Always Leighton - What's happening with Connor Calcutt, he seems to be struggling to find his feet at Bell Close and certainly isn't 'a Webby' is he who would have probably been on at least ten League goals by now. Also I see that the fixture at Eynesbury Rovers has been re-arranged for Tuesday 1 December already which surprised me as I thought Karen might have left it until later on in the season, will Leighton Town fans be able to attend. Rhodes - It’s not all about goals. Yes, I’m sure Connor would like more goals to his tally, and was denied by good goalkeeping on Saturday, but his overall game in the last few fixtures has been superb. Stats don’t mean everything when you’re putting in the shifts he’s been putting in! He’s not Webby, but they’re completely different types of strikers, so it’s hard to make comparisons. I don’t know whether we’ll be allowed in, you’d like to think so, hopefully the league step in and sort it out.

View from the Boundary 5
Don't know where you get your info, but Jets were 6 up after an hour, and that's how it stayed. Harefield were one dimensional, and only really got going after shipping six. Putnam got 2 by the way, one a pen. Men against boys.

He did, though last night's result didn't go our way, it had little to do with the Vase and more to do with the fact we're missing key players due to injuries, that and the fact we can't defend! Game was a bottom of the table match up with Tring bottom. Tring went ahead early on with a bit of a fluke but their next two goals were crackers with the last goal the best of the bunch. Wembley had a better second half but Tring just sat back and soaked the pressure up, Wembley got one back and kept pushing forward without ever really challenging the keeper, Tring then hit them on the break and got 4th goal after 86 minutes, Tring were the better team but they were helped by the ref who seemed quite lenient when dealing with some perstemt Tring fouling. Liked the ground with an odd mixtures of stands, terracing, seats and bits of cover.

With leaders Eynesbury Rovers surprisingly losing at home to North Greenford on Saturday, Harefield missed the chance to go joint top after losing to fellow contenders Biggleswade United in a match that must have been a big blow to their confidence. Oxhey's win at Tring means a place in the top five is now within their grasp. http://www.tlfg.uk/

Also see a Blog from another groundhopper who attended, I don't believe it was the same one and it makes good reading with photographs: https://www.botp.co.uk/blog/what-no-red Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 Buckingham Athletic 0-1 Milton Keynes Irish Attendance 131 - Admission £6 including 8 page programme or £5/£1 3rd v 2nd and at one time this would have been the Buckingham Classico but the visitors lost the use of their Ford Meadow ground and did a Wimbledon by moving to Milton Keynes, eventually changing their name to MK Robins and now MK Irish following a merger with Unite MK and changing their colours from all red to the Irish green and white. The hosts had the better of the first half but couldn't make their possession count and in the 50th minute a corner from the visitors was headed onto the bar and Mason Spence showed lightning reactions to head home the rebound. The closest the hosts came to levelling was hitting the bar. Unusual Covid rule here was that each spectator was allocated one of 50 blocks which covered two posts around the pitch railings with a maximum of 6 people allowed in each. Don't think many kept to theirs as there were more than 6 people in the two blocks nearest the dugouts on the entrance side. More of a hygiene issue was that there were no toilets inside the ground or outside until the clubhouse opened which wasn't until just before half time. Watched in the company of a hopper from Aylesbury who is a mate of Russ WWFC. Visited Stratford Fields once before, a 2-0 win over Pitstone & Ivinghoe, who had already been crowned Division 2 champions, in May 2001 but a tidy up job was needed as I only saw the second half of that game caught out by the 2pm kick-off. My intended game that day, Buckingham Town v Boston Town in a United Counties Premier Division title deciding match, was switched to Raunds at the last minute as the Ford Meadow pitch was waterlogged so needed a Plan B. Since then the ground has been enclosed by a mesh fence and wooden bench seating added to the stand which was just a covered terrace back then.
