Rhodes 223
Another announcement from the blazers at the FA, they state the obvious that 'no FA Vase ties will be played in lockdown' however there is no reason why the competition can't resume shortly afterwards is there, even on Saturday 5 December: The FA has confirmed that the 2020/21 FA Trophy & FA Vase have been 'suspended until further notice'. No Trophy or Vase ties will be played in lockdown. It 'remains the FA's intention to complete the Trophy & Vase with all clubs having the opportunity to play their fixtures'. Rhodes 223
If the FA Vase Second Round ties do hopefully go ahead over the weekend of 5/6 December it will only be a week later than originally scheduled so no real harm done. They reached this round with wins over Hoddesden Town 5-1 and Sheringham 1-0. We at the moment are the joint 2nd top scorers in the cup this season with 14 goals with wins over Chalvey Sports 5-1, Oxhey Jets 3-1 and Sandhurst Town 6-2. Assistant Manager Gary Brown's thoughts ahead of the game. What a strange season it's been stop, start, but finally there's light at the end of the tunnel with a massive FA Vase game to kick the season back off. We have equalled the furthest the club has got in this great competion and playing some great football along the way. The boys will be ready for the game no doubt and with this young squad, if they turn up and play like they can they will be a match for anyone in the competition. Walsham will be a great test for us and I'm sure they will be up for the game too and let's hope its a good match. We have a fully fit side to chose from which we haven't had for the last month which is great for us because it gives us loads of options all over the park. Its a good distraction from the league and gives us a chance to showcase our young talent. We know Walsham are going to be a good test but if we play like we can I have total confidence we will get the result. Win, lose or draw, its nice for football to be back in these hard times, so let's enjoy it while we can. We wish our opponents a safe journey and good luck for the rest of the season in their League. agamemnon3 28
There are suggestions, (albeit rather confused ones), on another forum that Mildenhall Town have withdrawn from the FA Vase.
Joes 2
Yep, they have pulled out of the vase. No game for us, worrying times ahead I think. Government pushing it to the fa, fa pushing it to local leagues, and local leagues not knowing what to do for the best. Unless we get firm leadership and some direction from the actual fa on what we can and can't do, who knows what is going to happen this season. Leighton have told the league that we are happy to play league games with the current regulations, but I know of 5 clubs that will be telling the league they won't be happy to play when they have there meeting tomorrow night. Agamemnon3 - Thanks, Karen hadn't mentioned anything and must have known: Mildenhall Town pulled out of the FA Vase (suffolknews.co.uk) Mildenhall Town have been withdrawn from this season's Buildbase FA Vase The Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit had been due to host Leighton Town in the second round proper on Saturday. However, after taking into consideration the severe impact of Tier 2 restrictions, the club's hierarchy has opted to pull out of the national competition. Mildenhall are also among a number of Premier Division sides that will not be playing league matches for the time being, with their next scheduled fixture at home against Haverhill Rovers on January 2. Chairman Bill Flynn said: "There is lots to consider with the viability of games going ahead in the near future, and we decided that the viability was not there. We considered the pros and cons of the situation, and financial hardship was not a price worth paying to stagger on through this blighted season at the moment."
