Prediction Lg - Spring 2021. Week 1 fixtures. By 12:00 on Sat 9 Jan please

Well here we go.  A little later into the evening than I planned but I've only just got in from the pub.  Did I miss anything?!

We will be running with 12 teams in Div 1, and 10 in Div 2, so unfortunately 1961 COYS and Hatted Urchin, have been reprieved from relegation.  Rats.

But the good news is we have 2 new players in DiamondGeezer and Adrian83.  A big welcome to you both (until we get to know you better when the insults will fly).  And unfortunately Kentish Maid has decided to retire after winning the Emergency Cup in her only season.  That's what I call going out at the top!

There will be 14 games played in both divisions, with an assumption of 4 up, 4 down, including play-offs for the 4th promotion place.

Normal rules apply (see next posting) - with a couple of exciting new developments.  Firstly there will be a "Covid contingency" game to predict in case one of the standard five matches is called off for any reason (inc. frozen pitch etc).  And I doubt the attendance prediction will be in use any time soon :( but I'll see how it goes with minor foreign games.

That's it.

Here's who you are playing:

And here are the fixtures:

Luton v Reading FAC  (12:00)
Nott’m Forest v Cardiff FAC (12:00)
Southend v Barrow
King’s Lynn v Halifax

Covid Contingency game
Genoa v Bologna

That's it.

Welcome back, and good luck

Jago

Hi Jage

What about payment, looks like we are not going to meet anytime soon.

Good point - am looking at an electronic option and will confirm in due course.

Meanwhile - to be clear - the FA Cup game scores will be at the end of normal time (i.e. before extra time and penalties).

Now now Mike.  As you know it is not a new rule.  There is no rule.  That's the point!

Think of it as a principle.  A standard to aim for.  That sort of thing.

Quick note for the new boys.  I didn't explain this fully, so my fault, but please put the scores between the teams (as DG has done) rather than at the end (as Adrian has done).  And please don't put extra lines between the matches   (Though it's fine for the Covid match)

This may seem a bit petty but it really screws up the spreadsheet which then takes me quite a while to correct.  The simplest way not to get extra lines is to use Copy and Paste, then edit the scores as you wish.  (If you need info on how to do this let me know).

Cheers both

Jago.
