Jago 177
Well, after 13 weeks of pottering about on this irrelevance of a competition, we enter the final week. SHOW-TIME. Except, errr, rather unexpectedly yesterday’s results contrived to crown the winners of both divisions a week early. Hey ho, there’s still “pride” (whatever that is) and playoff places to play for – and in Lord Upminster’s case, a miracle to pray for. (Mind you, he's playing me so I've forwarded my bank details, just in case). So – it’s a very big well done to the imperious Mr D (who was likened to Martin Peters last week and I can’t think of anything better to say this week), and to Blackballed – who has been blowing his own trumpet all season so can in no way be accused of ghosting in at the far post. Welcome back to the Big Boy league Dave. I’m sure you won’t be staying long. At the bottom, MikeMike’s fingertips couldn’t hold out any longer so he joins Fat Tom and Mr Hat in the exit chute. And impressive, yet unheralded, runs by the two newbies mean Adrian83 and “The Geezer” are both looking good for the automatic promotion spots (but please remember Rule 3.5 - see footnote below – not that it’s ever been used). Keep it going men, we need some fresh blood up top. Meanwhile, spare a thought for everyone’s favourite second team (except mine), AFC Pulisball, ineptly "expertly" managed by Dinamo. Surprisingly top of the table after Week 7, but a more familiar run of LWLLLL since then may well have put paid to any play-off pretensions. Let alone auto-promotion. Come on Dinamo, do it for your fan(s). Finally (for now), if you haven’t paid, please do so: it all goes to help the Supporters’ Association. Feel free to pay twice (or more!) but don't exceed what you can sensibly afford. Having said that, one generous punter has stumped up £20 – so no pressure! Donation page is here or see me at the Upminster Tap Room : https://www.hornchurchfc.com/product-category/game-room/ Anyway, enough high finance. Read it and weep... UPMINSTER DIVISION LOSERS R US DIVISION NEXT WEEK - The Finale Week 14 (of 14). Please predict by 15:00, Saturday 10th April It turns out the Boat Race happened today (who knew?) so as there is a paucity of decent Premier League games on Saturday, it’s an Oxbridge special. Albeit a week late ... Real Madrid v Barcelona Come on Palace v Chelsea (who are broadly on the Boat Race route) "Crew" v Oxford Utd (see what I did there?) Cambridge U v Exeter City Aldershot v Yeovil Contingency match Tottenham v Manchester U (Sunday) That's all folks. Wemberley, Wemberley, We're the famous 'orny 'ornchurch and we're goin' to Wemberley, Wemberley. Etc, etc JAGO. Footnote - Rule 3 - basically we need 21 teams as a minimum next season or only 2 from Div 2 will go up - but as I have a couple of "expressions of interest" we should be fine. We always are. Come on Dinamo, do it for your fan(s).
