SSML Projections - 2021/22

Yes but if the blazers at the FA Council don't nod the proposal through today it will be a non-starter won't it so that's what I meant by 'D Day' although it's invariably just a formality when something is put in front of them.

That's true and this is to decide which 110 clubs will be moving upwards so it's a big decision and there's bound to be a number of clubs offered promotion but for whatever reasons can't except so it'll drop down to next best.

Just want it all to be confirmed so by next month we can start planning for life in the Combined Counties League

GRS67 - You seem desperate to escape the SSML, why is that exactly

Well it was just a formality that the blazers on the FA Council would approve the proposal, Colney Heath will be laughing tonight as well as New Salamis, St Panteleimon and, surprisingly, Milton Keynes Irish, I'm not sure what they have done to warrant promotion to Step Five:

The Football Association have confirmed the proposed restructure of the non-league system has been approved

The restructure was set to take place last summer but was put on hold after the Covid-19 epidemic led to the decision to null and void the 2019/20 season for clubs in steps three to six of the non-league pyramid.

The FA’s Alliance and Leagues Committee proposed a new restructure should go ahead this summer as they look to achieve a ‘pure pyramid’ between the National League and step six divisions.

That means the implementation of a new step four division, two additional divisions at step five and a reduction in step six divisions from 20 to 17.

As part of the proposal, 110 clubs will be upwardly moved within the pyramid at steps four to six as the governing body look to reduce travel time and costs for clubs across the country.

The FA have also confirmed that clubs and leagues will be kept updated on the progress of the proposals as eligible clubs are invited to apply for promotion.

It is believed that the application process will officially begin next week and the FA are hoping to confirm the 2021/22 league constitutions by the week commencing Monday 17th May.

Can see a number of clubs not meeting the criteria so then what happens, does it drop down to the next best and so on?

Any idea what the SSML Premier Division table looks like based on this and last season PPG?

GRS67 - Cue Karen, those are questions for her to answer, what makes you think Club's won't meet the criteria, they will all be confident of doing so and will have had plenty of time during the lockdown period to make the necessary improvements to their grounds although finances will have no doubt been tight.

There's a lot of interesting SSML discussion and speculation on another Forum with Patemondo putting in his twopennysworth, he's obviously hoping that Stotfold receive promotion to Step 5 and although it would be deserved, particularly with the new ground, I am not sure it is going to happen:

Speaking to Codicote Chairman at the Weekend... they are concerned that if offered promotion to Step 6 (which I believe they should be) is what League they go in. SSMFL Div1 going North, Eastern Counties and Combined Counties ??? Any one of the 3 for Codicote and potentially London Lions will see an increase in travelling...

I see that Step 6 League's are waiting with bated breath to hear from the FA about how many spaces they will each need to fill for next season, League's will consider Step 7 Club's who have applied for promotion this season or in 2019/20 and prioritise Club's with floodlights and Grade H grounds.

An interesting Sports Shots article highlighting Milton Keynes Irish and Winslow United's cordial invitations to apply for upward movement however Winslow United are a 'secondary consideration' as are Stotfold and both those Club's would need luck on their side to make promotion:

Further to the Step 7 elevations to Step 6, this is the process:

Can’t see Winslow in any position to go for promotion. Over a number of years they’ve consistently been up there and only a poor start to ‘this season’ has knocked them down, but with managers and players moving on I think it would suit them to stay in division one now.

I thought We were supposed to find out from the FA regarding their restructure on the 17th?

We're still waiting to hear from them and find out if we'll be moving to the Combined Counties League

We're coming home guys, the current Division One Cup holders make a return, been a long couple of years had feared we might be placed in the Combined Counties but glad we can renew our old friendships within the Spartan South Midlands.
