I gather that Anstey Nomads fancy their chances this evening at Elmfields Gate, they are in for a rude awakening aren't they:

Yes, Portman road. Cracking old ground, will be a great experience, I expect Ipswich to be even better than Charlton were last year, think they got to the semis last year.

Buckingham Athletic must be terribly disappointed by their defeat at Long Eaton United, Captain Charlie Rowe's 26th minute dismissal cost them dear:

I thought Leighton Town Under 18's would have done the decent thing and forfeited their FA Youth Cup Third Qualifying Round tie with Bugbrooke St Michaels that was abandoned last Thursday due to floodlight failure however they replayed this evening with Leighton Town going down 4-1 despite taking an early lead.

Curtis Brown can certainly put himself in the shop window. One or two others too, I hear the right back is excellent.

Unfortunately 4-1 to Ipswich Town at the interval, a scoreline that very much flatters the illustrious hosts with Winlsow United having equalised through Curtis Brown on 21 minutes:

A very flattering  scoreline of 7-1 to Ipswich Town this evening with Winlsow United striker Curtis Brown having a number of opportunities to pull goals back, Curtis (pictured after scoring) will have no doubt impressed those in the corridors of power at Portman Road who may well be forcing a pen into his hand as soon as he gets changed:

Portman Road was awash with groundhoppers last night, here are two from another Forum but was the first guy actually at the game saying the scoreline flattered Winslow United and they were totally outclassed, then he turns round and says 'at one point it looked as though Winslow could spoil the party when they equalised on 22 minutes' so he is contradicting himself and is obviously an Ipswich Town fan as he says less than an hour to get home. I thought the attendance of 258 was extremely poor, they would have had far more than that at Elmfields Gate:

1. The scoreline really says it all and if anything flattered Winslow who although organised and determined were totally outclassed by an Ipswich side whose movement was a joy to watch and whose interplay, whilst not always coming off was still far too much for their opponents. At one point it looked as though Winslow could spoil the party when they equalised on 22 minutes with a superb pass and first time finish, a goal that gave their large following mainly of family and friends plenty of joy. However from the kick off, they switched off and within 30 seconds Ipswich had passed the ball through a static defence and the lead was regained. Shortly after it was three and another was added for good measure before half time, with dogged defending, wayward finishing and plain bad luck preventing it being even more. With the second half about a minute old it was 5 and the seventh went in with still something like 15 to go and it really did feel it could be double figures. However Ipswich it seemed declared at seven and in reality it felt like they had another gear to go up if needed throughout.
For Winslow, their keeper had a curious game. One save diving to his right when the game was scoreless was excellent as was another made late in the game from a header, but he also was culpable for at least two of the goals, just summing up the life of a keeper. In Curtis Brown, Winslow have an excellent prospect. He was head and shoulders above his team mates and scored his sides goal and late on had two other efforts that brought saves from the Town keeper.
Only the middle tier of the main stand open and other than the attendance being announced it was a tannoy free evening. All in all a good night out and less than an hour to get home.

2. Also at this game, this is a cracking Youth team at Ipswich and will hope to go at least as far ad the team did last year - agree with Bigaithch, Curtis Brown for Winslow was impressive, wonder if he has played for their first team? Certainly looked good enough to make a number of full time academy teams.
