A groundhopper from another Forum was at this one:

Letchworth Garden City Eagles 1 - 0 Irchester United (HT 1 - 0)
Pixmore Fields
Spartan SM League One (Step 6)
Admission £5
Programme £1
Tea £1.50
Attendance 64 and 1 dog
This is the Eagles' first season at Step 6 (wearing blue and black striped tops), playing Irchester United (wearing a purple strip) visiting from Northamptonshire, previously of the United Counties League. A warm balmy evening with the hosts opening the scoring on 28 minutes. The second half opened with the hosts now wearing their yellow strip as the the 2 original strips were not distinguishable enough under the floodlights.

PREMIER DIVISION

2-0 Leighton Town v Dunstable Town Attendance: 323

A match report:

Leighton Town 2-0 Dunstable Town
Leighton went joint top of the Spartan South Midland Premier League following Tuesday’s closely fought local derby with an ever improving Dunstable Town. Leighton started strongly and went ahead after nine minutes when Ashton Campbell’s defence splitting pass found in form striker Dave Parkinson whose powerful shot beat visiting ‘keeper Gould to the delight of another 300+ crowd.
Leighton dominated the play and keeper Gould made a great low down save to stop Parkinson doubling the lead.
Despite having the majority of the play Leighton were unable to increase their lead due to some excellent defending by the visitors.
Dunstable looked a different team in the second half and took the game to Leighton and whilst they had a lot of the ball they really didn’t trouble home custodian Coulson. The same could be said for Leighton who took back control as the game entered the last 20 mins but not many clear cut chances were created.
As the game drew to a close Dave Murphy popped up in the Dunstable 6 yard box and calmly smashed home Town’s second a few minutes from the end following a corner.
This was a fair result and took Leighton to top of the table on goal difference with Harpenden Town, who they meet at Bell Close this coming Saturday 3.00pm. Dunstable will not be in their current League position for much longer if they continue to play as they did in the second half their ability and spirit which will take them up the table very soon.
Another big crowd is expected at the Club on Saturday, please arrive early to avoid delays at the gate.
Thanks for you wonderful support.
