Give the poor bugger a chance! He only play part of one game. He's got to learn how we play and the tactics we use. Let's give him a couple of games to settle in (encouraging him to perform from the terraces and not having ago!) then we can make judgements.

hmmm... so Pat Gradley is useless, Wes Daly is useless (after just a few minutes in a Fleet shirt) and then you preach encouraging players!?!?

Had some doubts about Roy before today (given his record) and have to say, imo, he's no match for our other strikers. OK, may improve given time but we're running out of time & games for any more trialists! Panic signing and another poor one, I'm afraid. Not good enough for Stortford say's it all!

I watched Essandoah closely today and i agree with a ROY GNFC in that he is only ryman league level. I did not think his heading was a problem though, it was his total lack of pace. Ben abbey has at least got a bit of pace. I was one of those fans that was slagging Evans off last season but in the last two games he has been like a breath of fresh air. So i think Abbey should be given more time, Essandoah should go and Evans should be our first choice striker!!

Rob Howarth wins as much in the air as Essendoh did yesterday, he also holds the ball up better pressurises defenders and turns bad passes into good ones through his willingness to chase every ball played forward.

I agree that Essendoh shouldn't be judged on one performance but I thought Rob and Louie looked pretty good against Halifax and should be given a few games.

Rob is our best striker for his workrate alone, his ability ,as stated above, in being able to recover "lost causes" gives us momentum and impetus up front rather than tracking back for goal kicks, throws etc.

He can head a ball as good as shears, and linked up with louis v well, I would love to see these two together again.

IMO roy is rob's only competition, with abbey and louis fighting it out to partner them.

I say that having only seen essendoah once,so it is a hopeful statement!! Let's give him time.

I have to agree with you about Rob - he just works so hard. Also, given Abbey's relatively good scoring record for us considering that he has played far from all our games, he would be Rob's long-term partner up front for me (given that Roy is only on loan!). I still can't understand why so many people get on his back - the superb effort on goal he had in the first half which forced a terrific diving save from Perez shows what a lot of potential he has.

As for Roy, whilst not winning all headers today he did win some good ones, and I agree that it is best to reserve judgement on him for now. A few too many fancy flicks which didn't come off for my liking, but judging him on his first game is foolish.

Ben hasn't had the greatest season. We all hoped he would be our 'golden boy', that reliable striker that we so badly needed, who would knock the goals in week after week, without any effort. A more eager and goal hungry replacement for Che, but it wasn't to be.

However, in recent weeks, Andy has stuck by Ben and his confidence is growing. He has scored goals, albeit only a few. But, the energy and the desire to be in the right place at the right time shows everytime he plays.

If he's alright by Andy, then he's alright by me.

Uuuurgh, please, take that Stimmo face away from me. I've had recurring nightmares of that ex-Canvey gurning idiot celebrating - somewhat prematurely as it turned out - in front of me.

And he looks even worse squeezed into a small space 32 pixels wide... much the same space his single brain cell occupies.
