Leighton Town Development travel to Caldecote this afternoon in their much delayed Second Round tie which appears to be going ahead despite many postponements in the local area:

In other news we welcome Leighton Town Development  to Harvey Close tomorrow in the Beds County Cup, a side who are currently having a good season in SML Division Two. It’s lined up to be a very competitive fixture, the game will be kicking off at 2.00pm.

A good win for Leighton Town Development at Bedfordshire County League Premier Division Caldecote on Saturday, a groundhopper from another Forum was at the Second Round tie. Leighton Town Development now travel to Queens Park Crescents next Saturday (21 January) for their Quarter Final tie, kick off 2.00pm:

Caldecote AFC 0 - 2 Leighton Town Development (HT 0 - 0)
The Playing Fields, Harvey Close, SG18 9BQ
Beds Co Premier v Spartan SML 2 - both Step 7
Beds FA Senior Trophy - KO 2pm
Attendance - est HC 27 and 2 dogs
Free admission, No programme, Tea £1.30
I had wanted to go to an FA Vase game today at Biggleswade United, but the weather had other ideas. Whilst checking social media I saw that this was one of the few games still on, despite being on grass. Just to the West of the A1, this is also my nearest Step 7 ground I had yet to visit. The weather had a few periods of dry, with a show of blue sky, but it drizzled for at least 3/4 of the match.
There is a small car park at the sports centre, and the cricket outfield overlaps the main football pitch, a couple of childrens play areas, a separate building from the main Clubhouse housed the changing rooms, and the main Clubhouse is down the near touchline. There is some covered standing outside the Clubhouse, but 9 people and it was crowded. A lot of people were inside the Clubhouse watching the Man City v Man U game and they did a brisk trade at the bar during half time.
Both teams seemed evenly matched in the first half, both goalkeepers called upon to make saves and the rain made the playing surface very greasy/slippy. Caldecote were awarded a penalty in the first half which the Leighton Town goalkeper saved and he also deflected the rebound that was on target. During the second half Caldecote appeared to tire and the first goal was scored in the final 10 minutes with the second goal at about 88 minutes.
I haven't seen an official attendance yet and the Beds FA and Full Time website appear to have named the visitors as Leighton Town Reserves but I think it is the same team.
