Division One
Lutterworth Athletic 1 Langford 0 (at Leicester City Women’s Training Ground)

A groundhopper from another Forum was present.

Lutterworth Athletic 1-0 Langford
Spartan South Midlands League Div 1
Attendance: 52 h/c, inc a couple of dozen hoppers
Admission: £5, No progs
Reasonable first half but a poor second, the most significant contribution from the visitors being a comedy miss of max power but no grace which brought welcome laughter from all spectators at a time when the cold was beginning to bite.
The action took place at Lutterworth’s temporary home of Belvoir Drive, former ground of Leicester YMCA and now owned by Leicester City whose females train here and were indeed training when we arrived, preventing access to the ground until 15 minutes before kick-off which, in turn, caused our start to be delayed by 6 or 7 minutes.
It’s a 4G cage, dugouts one side, spectators allocated two-thirds of the opposite side, blah, blah, just like the many identical grounds used at step 7 and below all across the country. No cover, so obviously a temporary bending of Step 6 rules. Hot drinks of questionable quality available for a quid.

SSML Challenge Trophy Second Round
Milton Keynes College Football Academy 1 Potton United 2

A groundhopper from another Forum attended.

The weather requires 3G\4G options. Also the impending nail biting WorId Cup QF requires an early return home, so need to stay fairly local. I have a few new ticks in Step 6 upwards to do on artificial but frustratingly all appear to be away today. Therefore down to Step 7 with options found in Milton Keynes and near Leicester. The early kick off at MK means that is the choice on the day and it's off to watch:
Milton Keynes College Football Academy 1 Potton United 2
Gladwish Challenge Trophy
No research done on the teams prior to arrival so slightly disappointed to see that this was near the top of the Premier League (SSML) against students going ok but in Division 2, equivalent to Step 7.
My men against boys fear only look more likely after Potton took an early lead with a curling shot from distance. Potton dominated for the first 20 mins. but the College team began to grow into the game and no further goals were scored before half time. The second half was a complete turnaround with the students playing some neat football and troubling Potton but they were too physically lightweight up front to take advantage of the posession. They did equalise after a ricochet handball gave them a penalty. Potton made changes, I assume bringing in tested first teamers, who compared to the students were man mountains. Even then, MK did not look daunted and an entertaining ending could have gone either way. It was Potton who got the winner when one of the subs cut inside from the wing and threaded a cross shot into the corner. Another decent game.
MK College play at Sports Central. I will list the positives of this arena for spectators that did not take long. This is a horrible place to watch football, even an ardent ground ticker like myself was almost tempted on arrival to turn round and go home. It is a ground on the edge of Milton Keynes centre surrounded by a high fence, there is no access to the Stadium for spectators who have to watch the game from outside through small holes in the mesh. Thankfully the actual game made the decision to stay the right one.

RallyInRaleigh - Yes, you have to wonder why more than just four Club's couldn't get their games on, I know there is no under soil heating at this level but 'where there's a will there's a way' isn't there:
