The Crowing Cockerel
First departure announced with tricky winger/free kick specialist Lyle Della-Verde posting on twitter that he's moving on. Surprised he stuck it out this season with him warming the bench far too much. In a footballing side, playing the right system, he will be very useful! Sure he'll probably end up back in NLS. andyetfc
He’s the first and won’t be the last. It happens at a lot of clubs at this time of the year. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
lovely stuff
Would bother me if most moved on..Probably two or three players i wouldn't mind staying .Other than that a clean sweep is needed.
symptomless
Decent of him to post his intentions. I'm sure we won't know the full personnel until the first line up is announced. I guess that's the nature of football at this level and partly due to the types of contracts that the players have.
The Crowing Cockerel
Slightly surprised he'd announce his intentions before seeing what the new management set-up was - unless he's planning on following Andy wherever he may go (if he takes another job!). I'd expect other Andy Leese stalwarts to also leave (Thomas, Youngs). I'm pretty sure Cunnington said at the end of last season that this would definitely be his last. 55 seasons
Respect to Lyle Della Verde for his openness and thanks. A much under exploited talent at Town last season.
4wembleyfinals
I agree with you 55, but I think this was another of AL's failings. He was always willing to leave out players for the untried recently brought in ones. So long as their CV showed he had played for about a dozen or so clubs during the past season. No matter what the dropped player's contribution was to the team. A glaring example was Mickey Parcel Parcel plus a list of other young players. Who ever decides is to be the next manager I do hope that amongst them they co-opt someone with the knowledge as to what it takes to be a modern coach in the non league arena . So that the candidate can be properly assessed and not just picked for financial reasons. Consequently agreeing the working margins of the Budget for playing staff should be decided upon by the Board well in advance of any interviews taking place. Even then we will have to wait and see what the outcome is!!!!
55 seasons
You may be right 4wf but he certainly spent too much time on the bench. When he did start, he rarely looked up for it. May be was carrying an injury; frustrated with the style of play or any number of other reasons.

Can’t really see DV following AL, especially as he was not a regular under him.

Wildlife rescue
Really need some new blood in the board room The guys have done an amazing job some for 10 years I believe. problem is they are in a comfort zone because nobody seems to want to step up me included. 4wembleyfinals
I recently had my Damascus moment. Following a recent conversation about the club I now understand a lot better how things are run. Because I was told how this is done I feel that I have sometimes over stated my criticism in the past. For which I apologise. To put it simply I am amazed that the only persons receiving any cash are the players. All those others engaged in the everyday running of the club do it "pro bono"!!!!!! How many of us would do the same???? Of course there is always a need for new Blood in any organisation but it takes a special person to commit their time in the above circumstances?? I now look forward to hearing who is to be the next manager which I am assured is in hand. Edited May 1 by 4wembleyfinals Barney
Benjrider10
That’s a revealing post, 4WF, good for you for putting it out there. Contributors to this forum should bear in mind next season each time we don’t win. ETFC is supporter-owned and run - long may it stay that way but it does make us hugely reliant on volunteers. I have nothing but praise for all the board members, first team staff, ladies team staff, disability team’s staff, all the youth teams’ staff etc. They really do us proud. I said on another post that combining a full-time job with being first team manager of a club like ours is not for the faint hearted, but our club has such a good reputation that (hopefully) there is no shortage of suitable candidates. Time will tell …. Barney
andyetfc
Can’t forget those who do a tremendous amount of voluntary work in preparing the facilities, kit, pitch and boardroom prior to every game. Barney and lovely stuff

Raingod
Was an enjoyable afternoon and brought back a lot of memories from the different eras! For me the highlights were seeing in action - Harry + Cory, Liam and Jamie, Jey and Jordan, Mickey P, Ryan D and Craig McKay! The games were friendly, no injuries, and some good banter! A few discussions behind the goal as to who a few players were but I think most were identified!! Nice penalty from Neil and hope he enjoyed the day! Loved the purple strip for his XI .. hopefully a few will be raffled or auctioned as would love to get my hands on one! And yes there are a few players on show that I would love to see turn out for us again!

Raingod Posted Sunday at 11:47 Share Posted Sunday at 11:47 Shame to see Nathan go ... a real legend for us and I thought he might fancy going for the all time appearances record? Not surprised over Dayton or Cunns - both in the twilight of their careers. James struggled with injuries and never secured a place in the line up - great passer but lost some pace - but a really nice guy who appreciated the fans. Thought Adam was a real stalwart for us - will never forget the Herne Bay goal .. led the line well and while some complained about his moaning at all inc our own players, I saw him as a winner that wanted the best for us .. Would be nice to see some of the current team stay - a complete overhaul could see a season of consolidation, whereas adding to some talented players we already have could see us hit the ground running in the new season ...
