That is a surprise!

I’m shocked by that, what a coup. Shows that youthfirm was talking rubbish and just trying to stir the pot. Putting my millwall hatred aside, it’s definitely an exciting appointment. I’m not saying we are guaranteed to win anything but he’s played over 300 games for Millwall, them players will want to play under him. Did what he needed to do at Cardiff and kept them up. Think the board have shown again how badly they want this club to go up and what they are willing to do to get us there!

Steve Morison.......thoughts?

Interesting one ….

Quality player, played under our previous manager at Stevenage … proven winner as a player.

However, bit of an unknown as a manager … no non league managerial experience - wonder how he will find the transition from Cardiff in The Championship to Non League football.

Time will tell I guess….

in other news, can someone please tell me who got Player of The Season?

Spence?

Higgins?

Nash?

Who?

Sacked one of non leagues most experienced managers for someone with no experience at all of non league management on a wage that's probably twice as much as the previous manager. Anything less than 1st and it's the wrong appointment. Let's hope going for a big name over experience pays off....

It is rather odd going from one of the most experienced managers in non league to someone with no experience at this level and a managerial novice at best - quality player thou!

Wonder if he’ll ever sub himself on if we in need of a goal LOL

At the end of the day, football is a results business no matter what your level is. Alex sharp and Co have invested their own money into this club so if they feel like they should make a change, that’s up to them. If we kept hold of Stimson, we may not go up again next season, no matter how good his non league record is. There’s also no guarantee of us going up with Steve Morison but at least it’s an exciting appointment, it’s not like he did terribly at Cardiff did he. He probably could have got an EFL job. He also will be able to attract better players. If it doesn’t work out, we can’t moan at the owners, they’ve literally done everything on their side to ensure that we do go up

Now that is how any well run business does things , makes strategic decision based in their plan taking time to ensure things happen and the right pieces all come together

A appointment that will turn a few heads , but an amazing one done by the board and chairman who spend far too much time on holiday according to some.

Some people may feel th need to eat some humble pie, and others should well…..

onwards and upwards Mon the Chins

No one like’s us😉 we don’t care.

If this appointment works out or not , it’s a fantastic high profile choice.

Well  done to all the board , Alex, Colin,Ken and Tony. Keeping everyone guessing has been very interesting for all us true fans.

Our last two managerial appointments shows the commitment and ambition of the club. Well done to the board and all who work so hard for the club. Welcome Steve to the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’.
Good to see Jamie is staying on as one of the coaching  staff. I’m sure all Urchin fans will get behind the appointment and the team.

Coming from Cardiff Steve will feel at home as we have one or two ‘Leaks’’ of our own in our charming old stadium 😄

Cardiff fan here. He did better here than results might suggest. Speculation was he fell out with the Club heirarchy. We've had worse managers given much more backing in more dire scenarios so plausible.

He has a good eye for a player and made some outstanding loan signings. He improved the quality and style of our football and it feels like he had a vision.  The shake up was needed although sometimes his team's overplayed it. The major flaws in the squad were bigger than him. I think he could have done well enough elsewhere in the Championship but there's a herd mentality in appointing managers.

His downsides are he is prickly as feck and his man management could be better.

Question marks over his man management is a worry, especially as most players are not on contract. easy for key players to walk if he rubs them up the wrong way. Let's hope he realises it is non league and not professional football and adjusts the expectations of players and others.
