I was just wondering if anyone else had heard a whisper that the club were looking at buying the lease to Slough Rugby Club as its up for renewal?

At the fans forum it was said the club are actively looking to buy a plot of land for training facilities etc

Slough Rugby Club have been based in Upton Court Park for as long as I remember (60+ years) & probably much longer, & I thought they actually owned the land & buildings over there.

The last time I walked around there, about 10 years ago, they did seem to have quite a few very good quality pitches, a floodlit pitch, & a clubhouse, & seemed like a very long established well run club….. so I would be very surprised if they were moving anywhere, if that is what the rumour is.

Did you ever get to the bottom of whether the whisper was a reality?

I organise Upton Court parkrun, which has been using the Rugby Club  facilities every Saturday since 2012. The lease of the area is indeed being looked at by the Football Club.

Would that mean Slough Town FC would take over the lease of the whole complex and then hire it out to others like Slough Rugby Club?

I think so, the Rugby Club is staying from what I've been told but will have their own areas so to speak I believe which is great news, been there a long time.
