I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to doing this cage, but when I saw this B&B tie come up with 2.00pm kick-off I thought I would go.
I went by car but in hindsight I should have gone by bus, as the X5 goes from near my home and would have dropped me near the ground. The car park at the ground holds about 10 cars, but double parking meant most folk were blocked in.
There are numerous car parks around the ground but they can be expensive, thankfully some are half price at the weekend. I parked in a pay space near the station, 100 yards behind one goal. Many are free in the evening for reference.
Both sides are top of their respective divisions and the game was very good. MK started on the front foot and had all the first 15 minutes. Oving started to get into the game and scored midway through the first half.
The College then got two goals in the last quarter of an hour before the break. The second half was end to end stuff with MK just about being the best team.
Viewing is a problem, there was one gate on the cage open with a temporary barrier in front of it. Quite a few huddled around that. I choose to go to the other side where a footpath runs down the pitch outside the cage. At the station end there is a few metres off gravel standing level with the penalty area, for a cage it was OK viewing from there.
There is a Clubroom and toilets and the prices were very reasonable. There is a Burger King, McDonald's, Tacho Bell, Starbucks, etc. within two minutes walk, also Google Maps said there is a Wetherspoons very nearby.
I'm having purge on grounds in MK and the North Bucks League this season, though venues listed on FA fulltime are vague and random at best for MK teams.
Woburn & Wavendon are currently at MK City but not on the same pitch as MK City. There are three pitches at MK City and the complex has two addresses. Last week Scot Res. v MK City was at MK City. The complex has entrances in Derwent Avenue and Tattenhoe Lane, the pitch at the latter is by far the best as it has a nice grass bank down one side.
Tatternhoe play at the same address as where MK Academy played at, but 200 yards from the Academy railed off pitch which is being used by a team in the top division of the league, I think MK United but not listed on fulltime as such.
I think I may just need MK Athletic as at the moment I can't pin down where they play. I think I have done Grid City. According to fulltime I need more in theory.
Going back to MK College, the difference between their "ground" and that of Oving shows the variety of grounds out there.
