Enfield Town 0-0 Maidenhead United

Very quiet on here, are we all just trying to settle our nerves for a long season ahead?

Anywho, another midfielder signed. This time it’s T’Sharne Gallimore from Chesham who came on at the end at Torquay. Really not a lot to find on him but you can’t really complain with adding depth especially in midfield.

We should really be looking to take all three points tomorrow. Everything about Maidenhead is pure negativity at the minute, with fans calling for the manager to be sacked. We are really playing them at the perfect time.

Now if we still have to play three full-backs tomorrow then it may be a bit different but we should really be trying to capitalise on their negative start, with no way better to do it infront of the Town faithful.

Predictions? I’ll go 3-1.

It is very very quiet considering the season is underway! No squad updates that I've come across other than the single signing last week. Feels very much as if everyone is actually waiting to see how we start the season before passing judgement...which really goes against the ethos of this forum!

Midfielder from Chesham signs.

Also a defender who wasn't kept on at Millwall after a knee injury.

Be interesting to see if either plays a part tomorrow.

Hope that Adam and or Henry are back as both key players in the air/on the ground.

I'm going for 2-1 home win, here's hoping Maidenhead are struggling with dropping down and as Gavin has suggested that the Dave Bryant Stadium becomes a difficult place for visitors.

I understand Hawkins was always missing first 2 games of season .. if Thompson has a hamstring injury I wouldn’t risk him as he is so important to our season and want him fully recovered .. Benjamin was shown training this week on twitter so hope this means he is ok following his head injury.

Agree about a good time to play them - they looked shaky on their highlights in losing to Chesham. Let’s go direct with our most aggressive and tallest line up (Bayley to start!)

Personally feeling confident with how we’ve gone about our business -all  new signings at a far better standard than last season we are recruiting far more established players coupled with a stable spine from last season. (See nino’s goal of the season on Twitter for Sutton last season!)

Last 3 performances have been good - given Maidenhead issues I’m going for 1-1 ..

  • Tally Ho changed the title to Enfield Town 0-0 Maidenhead United

Very solid battling performance and Thompson was MOTM by a country mile.

Get Hawkins back and Donaldson further up and we are in business.

Side note - the ref was absolutely shocking. Just allowed #4 to pull shorts as he wanted and get away with it.

A ref who clearly wanted to let the game flow. His 'relaxed' approach to physical contact had the effect of persuading both teams that all forms of wrestling were fair game. Given the lack of quality we showed, a point was a decent result. Rhys was certainly the busier keeper and he has the crossbar to thank for the clean sheet. Can't help feeling that there was probably a bit more quality on the bench that Gavin could've deployed, but he obviously decided to stick with a robust/physical team to counter the possession and physicality of Maidenhead.

Work to do, but nice to have a point on the board with 2 very tough fixtures over the next week.

Thompson has his work cut out handling their stocky 15. He didn't win all the battles but neutralised the threat coming through the middle.

Their fans felt robbed by a couple of potential handballs in the box and the ref was overly lenient with fouls and shirt pulling against us near the end but I think a draw was a fair result.

Decent game and it'll be a while before the best partnerships emerge. We're still looking for that special spark.
