The prospect of a Vase tie between teams from different leagues was enticing enough to see me make a first trip here.
And what a worthwhile place this is to visit. As the crow flies, the ground is next to the town's railway station but a good ten-minute walk is required to reach it.
The ground is neighboured by cricket and tennis clubs. Indeed, there are padel courts in full view of the pitch. While cries of 'howzat' could be heard frequently during the game.
Seating is on three sides. There is an older stand on one side that also contains the dressing rooms and clubhouse. Opposite that is a modern 'kit' stand.
There are also two sheds erected in tribute to club officials, one behind a goal. One of these sheds contained a rather disconsolate looking teddy bear. Don't ask me why.
In non-league, players often have an allegiance to a particular manager rather than a club. This certainly seems the case with Gary Meakin, gaffer at Risborough Rangers. A number of his old charges at Rayners Lane have followed him to the depths of Buckinghamshire.
Rangers also have in goal Ben Bridle-Card, who has plenty of Step 3 experience, and the well-travelled Elliott Buchanan was on the bench today.
Have to say, quite a poor crowd for this. Maybe Wycombe's home game kept a few away.
Rangers, attacking down the slope, had the first chance when Dernell Wynter met a cross from a few yards out but Moulton keeper Adam North reacted well to save.
Wynter then fired wide after the visitors' defence gave the ball away.
It was Moulton who took the lead shortly before the interval. Nat Ansu ran on to a loose ball and rolled it past the advancing Bridle-Card.
There followed a golden chance for a second goal before half-time when Oliver Sprague was judged to have fouled Moulton's Nathan Amaning in the box. But Andrew Hall's spot kick was saved by Bridle-Card.
Rangers brought on subs including Buchanan at half-time and dominated the early stages of the second period.
It was only a few minutes until the home side equalised. A long throw into the box was met by Wynter with an acrobatic backheel. North initially looked to have caught the ball but then dropped it over the line.
Ed Odley had a great chance to restore Moulton's lead when he met a corner with his head but the ball flashed over the bar.
The stretching Buchanan got his toe to a cross but the ball went straight at North.
Then, with five minutes left, Moulton won possession deep in Rangers' half and Odley turned the ball past Bridle-Card.
Rangers were not finished, however. The flying North palmed away a cross-shot but sub Aaron Minhas turned in the rebound from an acute angle.
And so we went to penalties. Buchanan was the only player to have his effort saved as Moulton progressed.
Today also saw something unusual - a linesman wearing glasses!

Firstly an apology to Tel of this parish if you shot away after 90 mins in the belief it went to a replay. Obviously as you can see from the above it didn't
PFC seemed to be missing the big man up front and it showed as they squandered chances in the air early though that was all to change
WW took the lead but 2 headers from PFC put them in front.
Sadly game management as well as discipline were lacking late on and when PFC had one of the substitutes sent off in the 97th minute for a 2nd silly yellow card the ball was floated in and eventually touched in to send the game straight to penalties.
PFC missed 1 of theirs so with WW netting all 5 of theirs they went through
Question is do I count the penalties as goals scored. 
Would usually say home by at this point but I'll be heading to Slough for the 7.45 ko Virginia Water v Dunstable Town.
Great to have a good catch up with Tel.

Visitors from the N suburbs of Watford - newly arrived in SSM1 making their debut in competition - but as JCFC touched upon, they won't make many 'friends' on this showing.
I'd moved to the seats 2nd half and was down the far end from a thoroughly unlikeable gaggle of middle-aged supporters - predominantly male - who should/could have behaved better. Far too much needless F-ing and C-ing - possibly fired up by away bench too.
Ref warned their coaching staff, who then visibly pointed at their own followers as the source of the abuse - as if it was nothing to do with them. 
Much of it directed at individual players too .... unpleasant and obviously more noticeable amongst such a small crowd.

Easy win for the home side who dominated from the start, going ahead after 8 minutes, the visitors had a good chance to get back on terms straight after but the home keeper made a great save and after that it was mostly one way traffic, with a second goal after 28 minutes and a long range wonder goal after 35 minutes.
Second half continued in the same vain, with further goals after 59, 69 and 89 minutes.
The ground is very open with a cricket green one side and in the far corner a croquet green! Would be easily to watch the game from the public park. Pitch fully railed with hard standing on 3 sides, an attempt to fence off the dug out side from the spectators.
Two small stands, one seated and one standing and a good little Clubhouse (with full bar) make this a great ground for this level but may struggle if they ever got promoted.

A new ground for me. As I wanted to get a meal before the game opted to go from London Marylebone to High Wycombe. Had pin pointed what looked to be a decent fish and chip restaurant in the latter on the net only to find it had permanently closed when I arrived there. Fortunately there was a Yates pub opposite and had my fish & chips meal and a pint in there. Caught the 31 bus to Penn Ponds from where it was short walk to the ground. This is part of a sports complex that also contains both the local cricket and tennis clubs. Outside the ground is a club house, that has a bar and also contains a cafe, where hot food can be purchased. The ground is in quite a rural location and there is farm land behind the far side as you enter. A basic Step 6 ground, there are 2 metal stands on the near side. One has a bench at the back and is presumably also to provide a covered standing area, if required. The other is a covered seated stand with metal seats but no back to the stand, Fine on a pleasant day but would be somewhat bleak in the depths of winter. On the far side were a series of park type benches to provide additional seating, The floodlights were of a type I had never seen before as they were extendable and fitted into the complex at the bottom of the pylon, possibly to meet local planning requirements.
Turning to the match itself, the first half was quite a tight affair with little to choose between the teams, both creating chances that they failed to convert. The second half started in the same fashion until in the 58th minute KL's Henry Dudley was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle. However, despite being reduced to 10 men, this seemed to energise KL and from then on they looked the more dangerous of the two teams and it was no surprise when their forward Louie Collier, who had been a handful all afternoon, beat the offside trap and entered the area from the left hand side and slotted the ball past the keeper on 72 mins. Both sides created further chances but failed to take them,
On the way back decided to take the 31 bus on to Beaconsfield as it provided better connections for the return journey and was some 20 mins shorter than the outward journey from High Wycombe. Caught the 17.20 bus that enabled me to catch the 17.35 back to Marylebone from Beaconsfield Station. With favourable connections just made the 18.50 train from London Bridge and was home by 19.30.
