Congratulations to Eynesbury United on lifting the Division Two Cup this season with a 2-0 victory over a good Harpenden Town Development side:

Harpenden Town Development's match report from last night's (Wednesday 6 May) Division Two Cup Final at Ampthill Park:

Town fall short to Eynesbury United in the Division 2 Cup Final. Nearly a month after Town's last competitive game, Val Qoku's young side took on Eynesbury United at Ampthill Town's ANCO Stadium in the Division Two Cup Final. Eynesbury controlled the game from the off, firing long balls over the Town defense. Harpenden survived the opening 10 minutes, only to go 1-0 down after 13 minutes. An Eynesbury goal kick wasn't cleared and fell to the Eynesbury forward, who fired the ball beyond Town's 17 year-old goalkeeper Robbie Clarke. Harpenden had the majority of possession for the rest of the first half, though failed to pose any real threat in the final third. Town had a chance 5 minutes after the restart when Joe Lowther drove a low cross into the box that fell to George Wilde, whose low shot was well saved by the Eynesbury goalkeeper. Wilde had another chance from another cross from Lowther, but he could only poke the ball wide. The threat of a long ball from Eynesbury remained, they doubled their lead after another long ball made its way to the left hand side, where the Eynesbury striker picked it up, weaved his way through the Town defence, and placed the ball beyond Clarke from close range. The final half hour saw both sides posing minor threats to one another with no meaningful outcome. Town's final chance came in the 90th minute when they won back possession high up the pitch, and Wilde fired in a cross, but Will Ascough's header from 12 yards out was saved by the excellent Eynesbury GK. A disappointing end to a fabulous cup run for Town, but congratulations to Eynesbury United for having finished off their season with the Spartan South Midlands Division 2 trophy.

Unsurprisingly, groundhopper and blogger 'Mullered Sports', who gets everywhere, was in attendance at Ampthill Park for the Division Two Cup Final:
