Agree Glen and having seen Tadley a couple of times last year, and knowing how much turmoil Weymouth are in, I'd take that as a draw. Or Step 9 Tower Hamlets who beat Ascot 4-1 yesterday.

I read somewhere that there was a bit of a bust up which culminated with some players leaving.

They aren't RR. Their long term manager left following a disagreement between him and board over the future of the club. This resulted in a load of players from last year's playoff team leaving and leaving a load of new players needed.

They are also only 1 Step above Hamlets, so not the most surprising FA Cup result ever.

Yes, I remember now reading about the manager leaving and players saying on social media that they were not happy.

Apparently the board told the manager that they couldn't afford to get promotion this season so they would only "aim" for mid-table. Given they were in the play offs last year the manager didnt want to take backwards steps.

Ah so yet another club who were living beyond their means and ‘going for it’ instead of a stable club (some may say boring and unambitious…) living within their means?

Not too sure about that one way or the other Glen. Ascot are one of the more forward thinking clubs in the area and have an excellent foundation in place. I would think it might be ground related as I would say they would have to spend a considerable amount to get it Step 3 ready. Add to that all the additional costs and perhaps you are right, but not in the "spend on mercenary players" way. Only the Ascot board know their plans i guess.

Every game will be tough HT regardless of opponent, but looking at Welling, we should beat them yes.

Can't agree Glen, Ascot is run very sustainably and are arguably punching above their weight. They run loads of teams of all ages and are great for the area. Whether they could survive at the next level without running into significant debt is the problem.

But from many comments on socials it appears the board had no track on the budget and it was basically left to the manager to ‘manage’.
