Premier Division
Harpenden Town 3 Tring Athletic 1

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Rothamstead Park, a disappointing attendance:

SSML - Premier Division
Harpenden Town v Tring Athletic 3-1 (ht 0-0)
Venue: Rothamsted Park (1945hrs ko)
Entry: £9/4, no prog; Attn: 135
At halftime there was only going to be one winner, and that wasn't the hosts. Their keeper had pulled off a series of fine saves before the break, as Tring dominated proceedings. And Harpenden's cause wasn't helped by losing two players to injury, particularly central defender Beck after 38 minutes.
Tring continued to create chances after the break and within ten minutes their influential number 7, yet again, drew an excellent save from Freeman in the home goal. This time, however, the resultant corner was powerfully headed in by number 2. A couple of minutes later, Tring's number 7 played a one-two into the box and was tripped by the keeper. Their number 5 stepped up to put the game to bed, only to hit the bar and give Harpenden a lifeline.
The momentum started to shift, firstly a period of even play with half chances at either end, and then with Harpenden applying more and more pressure. Their goal attempts were getting more dangerous, although on 77 minutes an open goal was spurned. Moments later the visiting keeper had to emulate his opposite number with a excellent save. And, as with Tring's goal, it was the subsequent corner that was headed home by Henry Jones. Harpenden kept pushing, and as we entered added time, Tring conceded a freekick on the edge of the box. The freekick was sent over to the far post where Henry converted for his second goal of the night. And things got worse for Tring two minutes later when a defender took a heavy touch in front of goal and David Keenleyside stuck out his foot to deflect the ball into net. Tring were left shell-shocked.
