Slough 2 Hornchurch 5

What a great game - thought we were the better side even before the sending off. Really weird seeing us behind in the second half , Slough only really had 3/4 shots on target and scored from two of them (good save from Arthur Nasta on another). Late pressure again from us saw the scoreline changed. Good performances all around but Captain Tom my mom. Will this run last? Almost certainly not , there’s some big full time clubs in our league like Torquay and Dagenham and we have some tricky fixtures coming up but we are a good side and I think we could be having a good season. Well done to all and the away fans did us proud today , lots of noise. Well done to all COYU

Not in attendance as im am in warmer climbs i got off the plane and we were.2.one down get out of the taxi and we're 5 two up it's nuts up the Urchins

A good competitive game unfortunately ruined by the useless ref.

Debatable if you were the better side before the sending off, i'd say it was pretty even until the latter stages when having 10 men caught up with us.

You do have a decent team but then again with the players you've recruited you certainly should have.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on against the bigger sides in the division.

I don’t think any of us at Hornchurch have claimed we are going to win the league, far from it. Being top is a massive bonus for us but we have got Hampton, Torquay and Chelmsford coming up in quick succession. The full time big teams will overtake us, there’s no way we can compete against the resources of Torquay for example. It does rather sound to me a little bit of big club mentality , how dare a little club like Hornchurch (a pub team from Essex as we call ourselves) beat us? Refs are variable at this level, we were robbed of our best striker yesterday because of a poor decision, it would have been interesting to see how he would have got on with your defence yesterday and if you had seen some of the decisions made against us at Ebbsfleet, then you would realise that it tends to balance itself out during the season. I think before the sending off we had better possession and more chances hope there’s a video replay of that. I think your gk deserved the man of the match. 
 

Anyway all the best for the rest of the season , decent fans and hospitality there

Very entertaining game yesterday, but with regards to  the Reading Rebel post, I was wondering why winning teams never refer to the useless ref, just saying.

It’s an interesting point , it’s footballing mentality I’m afraid - it’s the same as losing sides typically blaming the ref when they lose (I’ve done it above for the cup game). As far as I’m aware there were two contentious decisions in the game, the sending off and the penalty claim. We will never know had the decisions gone the other way what effect that would have had on the game. You’re not a bad side and I strongly suspect you will pick up (it’s still early days so no one can read into the league positions at the moment) . I genuinely thought we were the better side however, we’ve got a lot of energy in the side and finish games strongly, we are picking up a lot of late goals.

Seems to me nobody is happy we are top we are defying all logic it shouldn't be happening but it is there's bound  to be a dip at some point when I.dont know but let's enjoy it and let everybody else whinge pathetic really ,up the Urchins

It’s just the attitude that it has to be the ref or some other excuse (Alex got the pitch resurfaced so that can’t be blamed anymore). What about us being a decent side maybe?
