So with one going out on loan...does anyone think Gavin will get a back up in to support Lamar?   Still dont think we have enough options/quality up there.

Will the new club be paying Harry's wages?

Dorking have just brought in a striker on loan despite already having Rutherford and Prior. Horsham already have an assortment of striking options (as demonstrated by bringing on Rhys Murphy at half time against us,) and it shows in their league position. Farnborough have just brought in a new striker from Step 3...

I appreciate that we're shopping in the bargain bucket of non-league, but most of the clubs in the league seem to have a fairly large turn-over of players. I'm not suggesting we need a clear-out, but we do need something fresh up front - particularly with space/funds freed up following Matt Macarthur and Harry Lodovica departing.

He's 18 and its his very first taste of men's football. Most of these youngsters sink rather than swim, so we'll see...

Just bringing this back up.

Is it the strikers that we are signing that can’t score and are bad or is it the ‘system’ they are playing in?

A lot of Towner fans were harsh on Hutchinson last season including myself, but now he is scoring quite a few goals (granted he took a step down) for a Folkestone side that is looking to go up to our step. This is not me saying I want Hutchinson back or I doubt he would even come back from a couple of idiot fans abusing him online after he left but is the ‘system’ that negative?

I understand we create chances some games that you’d expect our strikers to score but for large parts of the game they look isolated, when we’re pinging balls up to them for no reason so forth.

Then you’d have to ask yourself what striker would want to play for a team that looks so negative with the ball at times like we’re always playing for a draw or not to lose. Budgets an issue, I can agree with that but we found Wyllie and Faal in a space of a few years and we’ve always been good spotting strikers so what is the issue this time?

I believe we missed out on a huge chance last year not throwing the budget at Faal last year when he was choosing between us and Worthing.

If you were a striker and had the choice of going to ETFC or Worthing, its a no-brainer. Putting the increased pay to one side, at Worthing you're going to be surrounded by better players who will create plenty of opportunities for you. Our style of play seems to be very much reflective of the quality of squad we have been able to assemble. I think what we really need is a grizzled old centre forward with plenty of football league experience - someone who the ball will stick to when its played up to them - I'm thinking someone in the mould of Scott McLeish, Adam Cunnington, Gary Abbott.

I quite like the signings of Olly Davis and Eli Ackason. Lets remember what Gavin was able to do with Marcus. The season before Gavin's appointment, Andy Leese had stuck Marcus out on the left wing more often than not. That didn't work and he was barely in the starting eleven. Gavin moved him into the middle, changed the formation and the next thing you know he's winning the golden boot and promotion for us. From what I've seen of Olly Davis, I'm very hopeful that Gavin can do similar things for him. He's 19 and has the look of a young Gareth Bale. There's clearly no lack of confidence - stepping up to take that late free kick on Saturday. 

With our limited means, lets see what Gavin can do with the youngsters.
