V Eastbourne Borough 3.1.26 H

Eastbourne are having a very poor season and are currently in the drop zone Theye won just 3 of their last 11  games BUT those 3 have been won since very end of Nov and Dec  scoring 15 and conceding 5! Including 2 very recent away league wins  I would hope our recent successes and clear boost to both confidence and performance will get us at least a point from this one On the plus side Eastbourne have lost 3 loanees this week including a scorer from their last game!

I’m pleased Aderoju has returned to Peterborough, he scored seven goals in his last four games for Eastbourne.

I wasn’t aware of any others leaving or if any others have come in.

Theyve announced the arrival of Mathaeus Roberts from Stevenage via Arsenal Academy

The other departees are Victor Akinwale and Ryan Sandford dont know any details just the names

Another excellent result, 3 wins on the bounce, 4 points above safety and the heady heights of 16th!!! A real battle today and defensively we were solid and at the other end with a bit of luck may have scored another one or two. But what a tremendous turnaround and confidence should be sky high. Well done Rebels!

Looks possible that our game on Monday will be off but Id be fairly sure of the 3 points Chelmsford started well but have imploded recently 2 wins from last 9  and the 2 teams theyve beaten Eastbourne and Enfield!

Excellent and proves that people want to watch attractive hopefully winning football our dire gates back in good weather reflected what was on offer

One other fact from today we are fighting brilliantly now but no team below us at 16th took 3 points  3 losses and 2 draws very helpful to us

Great to get the 3pts but i thought we made hard work of Eastbourne , defensively I thought we looked shaky at the back, need a CB with experience at this level and a holding midfielder. Borgnis had a great game and I hope we can hang on to him for the remainder of the season. 3 wins on the bounce is brilliant let's keep the momentum going. Desbois pulled off some great saves today to keep us in the game.

Considering how cold it was and the wind at pitch level, 3 points is 3 points and every game in this league is a battle!

We can say we need this and that but the only opinion that matters is Scott’s and I’m sure he’s over the moon with the players at the moment, they have stepped up but what has helped is availability, the last 3 games I now think we are seeing the real Slough Town.

Really like that back 3 again, perfectly balanced in my opinion!

I’m actually hoping Monday is postponed as it’ll be a quick turnaround plus although Chelmsford aren’t currently justifying their massive full time wage bill they’re still a tough opponent especially at home on a cold Monday night. It’ll give us a whole week to recover and prepare for a trip to bottom of the table Chippenham where we can hopefully continue our winning run.

Great result, but like against Chesham we didn’t start well & got better & better as the game went on…. and an impressive build up & classy finish from Makowski to win it.

Another excellent three points against an Eastbourne side I thought were much better than their league position & Chesham…. I don’t think they will be in the drop zone much longer.

First of all I'd like to belatedly congratulate Scotty on his contract extension.

As for the match today, for the first 30 minutes we were dreadful: outfought, outthought and outpaced. Eastbourne did the simple things far better than we did and it was notable that seemingly all of our clearances went straight to the opposition. Static defending let you-know-who score, but Eastbourne rang rings around us and should have lead 3-0. Thankfully they didn't have their shooting boots on!

That all changed with Oshilaja's equaliser, which was well taken but in my opinion undeserved and against the run of play. This seemed to take the wind out of Eastbourne's sails and put it into ours: from then on we dictated play and looked extremely comfortable. A great finish from Makowski won it for us and besides one instance of flapping, I honestly don't recall Adam Desbois being seriously tested. This despite full-time Eastbourne huffing and puffing, making all their substitutions and their manager effing and blinding from the sidelines. I also thought Myers had a particularly good game.

We're up to 16th now and importantly 4 points clear of the bottom-four, which looked unlikely a fortnight ago so very well done to the team and to all involved. There's still a long way to go however!

Btw I'm well aware that since my comment on here after the Dorking match (that we are lacking in quality) our record is P3 W3, so that's what it takes to get us winning😉! Keep this up and I may have to reevaluate!

The league table looks good this morning, the highest position we have been in for some time.

I thought we had to grind out the win yesterday, all the team played their part in gaining the 3 points.

It just goes to show that having money and being full time does not necessarily bring success. 

Our first goal I thought came somewhat against the run of play. I'm sure the Eastbourne fans certainly thought so as they had been in full voice and to a person were immediately silenced which was quite amusing. One strength our team has is that we can score goals from all over the pitch, I think most of our regular starters have been on the scores sheet at some point this season.

Onwards to the next game, which with the cold weather due is now likely to be away to Chippenham next Saturday. Personally, I think the Chelmsford game is unlikely to be played tomorrow. With Chippenham at the foot of the table, if we play as well as we have been recently, then we can certainly expect something from the game.

Finally, credit to the Eastbourne fans yesterday. It was good to see them travel in reasonable numbers considering the cold weather. It was also nice not to be segregated.

On the subject of segregation Last Mondays clash between Chelmsford and D&R was stopped by the ref when a fight broke out between young supporters of both teams  on the terraces It wasnt a segregated match but theres a good chance when we meet it will be imo

Sorry to disagree Adrian, but I think you  may be mistaken about there being no segregation at the Chelmsford  v Dagenham match.

The Chelmsford Chairman felt what happened that day needed him afterwards to issue a statement to the Chelmsford fans.

HR dont be sorry to disagree Im alway happy to have corrections to posts I try to get things correct but didnt pick up that segregation was already declared. That raises another question though a lot of people believe that segregation riles and fires up away supporters who kick off when nothing would have happened without it!

Have to agree with Nathan, for the first 30 minutes+ we were pretty awful and if Eastbourne had their shooting boots on we could easily have been a couple of goals down. 

Personally I put a lot of it down to the wind direction which was in our faces in the first half.

Kiki's goal was the turning point.

After that we grew in confidence and once the second half started and having the wind behind us we took over and probably should have scored a couple more.

At this stage of the season performances don't really matter, it's points on the board that count and hopefully after 3 wins on the bounce we can carry on and cement a place in mid table.
