A groundhopper from another Forum was at Chalk Lane to witness their narrow win over Potton United having been to the Emirates Stadium beforehand for the early kick off Arsenal Ladies v Manchester United Ladies fixture:

Spartan South Midlands Prem Div
Cockfosters 1-0 Potton Utd
Att 87, Adm £10, Prog - Not sure. 3pm ko.

I left the Emirates with added time still to play to get on a Piccadilly train to Cockfosters and entered the ground (a few hundred yards from the tube terminus) a minute or 2 after ko.
A decent enough ground with a certain charm at step 5. You can’t stand behind the far goal. There’s limited seating and a few small covered standing areas. They are currently 3rd in the table and whether the ground would be up to step 4 standard I’m not sure.
A competitive game with the goal coming around the 15 minute mark of which I annoyingly missed due to my afore mentioned bladder issue. After that the post was hit and several great saves were made, however it was destined I wasn’t going to technically see any goals.
I parked in the Cockfosters station car park and it was a relatively easy 72 mile 1h30m each way journey. An enjoyable day out even though I missed the only goal of the 2 games.

Saturday 10 January
Division One
Everett Rovers 1 Stotfold Reserves 1

Another groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at Dodd Road:

Spartan South Midlands League Division One
Everett Rovers 1-1 Stotfold Reserves
Admission - £6, Attendance - 30
Ground - The only ground I needed to complete the league, I was holding off for a weekend like this where postponements would be common. Just as expected, I don’t know how it’s got away with being graded. With Everett somehow top of the league, I have no idea what they will do if they do get promoted. The ground is a 3G cage. Hard standing on one touchline and tight hard standing behind one goal. On the touchline is a tiny covered area. No seating. The social club was only half open today, no food available.
Game - Along with the disappointment of the ground, this game gave me another pet peeve - Reserve sides in the Step 1-6 levels. Both teams just played route one, no passing, no skill. The Everett number 6 genuinely couldn’t kick a ball. Anytime it came near him, he would smash it out of play. It was genuinely embarrassing. What was also embarrassing was the management team of Everett, screaming and shouting at the referee despite correct decisions being given. The manager received two yellows and rightly was sent off. In terms of the ‘football’, the home side took the lead early when a route one ball was misread by the Stotfold defender who then made a good sliding recovery but the keeper had already committed so wasn’t quick enough to react to the change in direction meaning the Everett winger could round the keeper and tap in. Stotfold equalised late in the first half when a silly sliding challenge saw the Stotfold player run into the already downed Everett player and win himself a penalty. It was soft but it was also stupid to give the referee a decision to make. The penalty was tucked away with ease. Not a day to write home about and one I will probably quickly forget.
