V Maidenhead H 3 Apr.

A thoroughly deserved point in the end against a Maidenhead side who were well versed in the dark arts of riling the opposition and time-wasting.

It was a different story at the hour mark however; Maidenhead had looked comfortable in what had been a dull, timid affair that had utterly failed to live upto the hype. This all changed with the quadruple substitution, after which we were by far the better side.

I don't want to go into the details of the shenanigans at the end at the moment; I'll leave it up to Scotty and others to clear up what happened and what didn't happen. But I know what I thought I saw and it was disgusting.

Btw has anyone else seen the Maidenhead lot on Twitter/X? Hot headed to say the least!

Yep, and I’m going to stop winding them up now, mind you only doing it because of the farcical over reaction. The incident at the end? Well, I left my seat in the main stand fuming and went down the front to voice my displeasure at Josh Umerah, absolute bully, now I’ve calmed down I’m actually embarrassed I reacted that way and can only apologise. I just could not believe what I was seeing!

First and foremost, I hope that Scotty is OK after accidentally colliding with the Maidenhead manager's fist. Is that was is known as taking one for the team?

What an unsavoury and unnecessary ending to the game.

I thought we were second best for long periods up to the substitutions, however after that we were camped in their half for most of the time.

I thought Tyrese had an excellent game today, he played as if he had something to prove against his old team. He looked 'disappointed' to be substituted and deserved his goal.

It would be interesting to read the referee's report on the game, specifically the sending off of their manager. If there is supporting video footage, I would assume there could be an extended ban and even a fine. As a manager, what a poor example to set to his players and fans.

The away support was certainly silenced in the 98th minute.

Finally, I thought the ref had a good game today (although Reading Rebel would possibly disagree!), he kept the game flowing and played advantages where he could. He was verbal where necessary by talking to players of both sides in a highly competitive and physical game.

Looking forward to playing Maidenhead again next season.

Onwards to Monday.

Different views with football are interesting aren’t they?

I thought the lack of control by the ref caused the melee to be honest.

Well I was at both games today, firstly the Slough Town Cup Final and then our game and have to say the endings were just crazy.

The Slough Town Cup Final saw the Britwell goalkeeper march 70 yards and land a right hook into the back of a old Windsor player and then continue his onslaught with a head butt which I think was on another. Then followed the chaos in our game at the end.

Amazing moment in the cup final was when a substitution was being made and the player coming on only had a pair of black shorts on so to get him on the field of play the player coming off had to take his yellow shorts off so the player coming on could put them on, let's just say they were a snug fit.

Onto our game have to say we never gave up again even after the penalty miss we kept trying and trying until we got our reward. Every player put a shift in and were determined to get something from the game which we thoroughly deserved. The chaos at the end obviously got too much for Scott who decided to have a lay down.

It's been a tough week with the passing of my father in law at the beginning of the week so nothing but praise and thanks to the rebels who dug in and for bringing a little bit of joy in what has been a difficult week.

Those sour grapes are tasting really juicy 😅

Iv'e seen the footage and Peters is the sole aggressor and fully deserved his red card.

I thought the ref was a bit inconsistent in his decisions, by far not the worst ref I've seen but on the penalty he let a M'head player pick the ball up to obviously waste time and put the kicker off and failed to booked him. Just one example of his inconsistency..

I’d go with that view too RR. Just felt he let too much go and in the end it just felt like it was going to boil over and it did. It wasn’t a penalty either, Basil trod on the ball and the tension rose from that point. Mind you, we’ve had plenty of wrong calls go against us this season, it is what it is. Josh Umerah did his best all game to bully our lads, their fans reactions astound me regarding the tackle by Milan, what about the one on Basil when he was at full speed? On Basil, that lad is going places, the pace and power is phenomenal, lovely lad too.

I was 10 yards away and the referee dealt with it as he should have done, a yellow for Milan. It wasn’t a malicious tackle, more a raised foot trying to block a clearance and the kicking foot of the left back collided with Milan’s raised foot on the follow through. Then cue the tantrums started by Josh Umerah re-entering the pitch to try and grab Milan and Harvey by the throat!

The ref had his back to the penalty incident when the time wasting and gamesmanship took place, he was still talking to the two Maidenhead players who were presumably disputing the award of the penalty. Whether this was the ref's fault or not I'm sure our opinions may differ. However, the assistant ref should have seen the incident and alerted the ref to the instigator of the melee, allowing appropriate action to be taken.

On a side note, what is the role of assistant referees these days? How many times do we see the assistant waiting for the ref to decide which way a throw in should go, or fail to alert the ref to incidents which happen right in front of them.

Happy Easter everyone.

Firstly if I have got this wrong then I apologise.

Reading different reports it is alleged that the Maidenhead manager Ryan Peters either punched or head butted Scott to the the ground.

I looked on the official Maidenhead twitter page and at 9.27pm they posted a picture of him with the caption There's only one Ryan Peters. We responded on our twitter page at 9.37pm with a picture of Scott with the caption There's only one Scott Davies.

All I can say on that is Maidenhead you should be ashamed in backing your manager for his actions yesterday. I know who I would want as my manager every single day and that's Scott.

You'll learn a lot from just watching Scott a great manager and a true gentleman.

As for the actions of the other players I'll leave that for others to comment especially their number 15.

There's only one Scott Davies.

15, Josh Umerah, bully boy… His behaviour made me lose my rag, he caused the melee at the end, no doubt about it!

I don't understand the bile that emanates from some Maidenhead supporters about Scott (especially from their behind the goal scrotes). As you say Bonjour "You'll learn a lot from just watching Scott a great manager and a true gentleman".

It must be hard to take not being able to beat us this season, or last! I'm looking forward to next season's derby already!!

I was extremely surprised to read elsewhere that Maidenhead haven't beaten us at Slough since Boxing Day December 1966.

As there isn't (as yet) a match report of this game up on the club official match archive page, I thought some people on here might be interested in the pics below.

(Even though we lost this remarkable game 5-4, having at one time been 3-0 up.)
