I was extremely surprised to read elsewhere that Maidenhead haven't beaten us at Slough since Boxing Day December 1966.

As there isn't (as yet) a match report of this game up on the club official match archive page, I thought some people on here might be interested in the pics below.

(Even though we lost this remarkable game 5-4, having at one time been 3-0 up.)

Watched this game and to say it was a shock is an understatement. Even after we levelled it at 4-4 they had the audacity to go and get a fifth. By way of consolation it marked the begnning of a period of some 35 years when they couldn't even come close.

It would be interesting to read the referee's report on the game, specifically the sending off of their manager. If there is supporting video footage, I would assume there could be an extended ban and even a fine. As a manager, what a poor example to set to his players and fans.

A charge of failure to control their players as an absolute bare minimum I hope. And that tweet from Maidenhead, knowing what had happened and what he'd been sent off for, indicates a total lack of class IMO. That and their time-wasting antics says a lot about their club culture!

We can all quibble about the nature of the physical contact, but I've trawled through Twitter and Facebook and yet I can't find any comment from any one (except us totally impartial Slough fans) that would indicate that what happened (namely their entire bench charging like a bull in a china shop, not to mention the clear physical assault) was totally out of order and solely to blame for the melee. Maybe I was looking in the wrong places. There was plenty of blind hatred of Scotty though.

Something's changed since the covid lockdowns. 10 years ago something like this wouldn't have been brushed under the carpet and publicly excused.

But let's look on the bright side: there's something to get the juices flowing for our matches next season (should they happen)!

Seems the vast majority on social media just want to mock or verbally abuse, you can’t have a debate or discussion anymore. Yes, I was mocking the Maidenhead supporters posts on X but all they were doing was hurling abuse at the Slough management, players, infrastructure, supporters and the Town, it was non stop. X account deactivated as a result.

Interesting, there is currently no report of the match on the Maidenhead website.

Nathan, it's pretty certain that both clubs will be charged with failing to control their players.

The ref will have put down that Peters was sent off for violent conduct and as far as we know the only definitive footage of the incident shows Peters as the aggressor I'd bet that the FA will side with the refs decision that a red card for him was the appropriate action and will ban and fine him heavily.

And would you believe it Peters also ducked out of the post match interview.

Obviously told to keep his head down so as not to incriminate himself and the club.

On the game itself, Maidenhead were the better side for a good portion of the match, closing us down and using their physical presence to knock us off our stride.

The 2 goals we conceded were poorly defended and it looked like there was no way back from 2-0 down.

The game changed when Scott made his substitutions which included Basil Tuma who basically turned the game on it's head with his pace and direct running.

In the end a very good point which keeps M'heads charge into the play-offs in doubt.

The incident at the end? Well, I left my seat in the main stand fuming and went down the front to voice my displeasure at Josh Umerah, absolute bully, now I’ve calmed down I’m actually embarrassed I reacted that way and can only apologise. I just could not believe what I was seeing!

Let’s hope that everybody involved in the incident is also embarrassed today, and that conciliatory efforts are made all round. What example does it set for all the younger fans of non league football that there are constant complaints about?
