I can not believe the club have a 3 g laid knowing it has a 10 year life span and not start saving from the first season with the money in the bank saved for it to be renewed.

Or did the club have a conversation with Mystic Meg asking will we get some big cup games that will bring in big money over the coming years??.🫣🫣

When it was first laid it would have been the Council’s responsibility to change it after 10 years, but that would have changed to being the Club’s responsibility when the Council recently granted the Club a 50 year lease.
The cost of replacing the pitch would have been reflected in the cost of the lease.

Henry and Jacob, I’d love to see how they perform together. Henry would free up Jacob to dictate play I think.

Two players of that quality would certainly help.

If Henry stays and is back to his best and any loan signing as good as Jacob has to be on a season long deal with no call backs.

I would hope our captain stays after being out for the majority of the season and I presume still being paid? If he leaves then what does that say!

It appears with now have a good relationship with Reading, ideally we’d secure Jacob and Basil on season long loans but in reality that’s probably not realistic. But hopefully we can get some other of their brighter prospects here on loan.

We would have any power to demand a season long loan from any club!

I reckon you're right Curtis.

Our owners have only been in charge a couple of years and I'd imagine any spare money would have been used to fund projects like Rebels and refurbishments etc.

The cup money will hopefully allow us to have an improved budget by not funding the pitch with a loan or any other means of raising that sort of money.

If that was the case if possible we need to steer clear of any loans.

No point in having players here for a short period of time if we don't have to.

What I mean is we’re in no position to be demanding season long loans for any player especially from professional clubs. If we get offered 3 months next season for Basil, Jacob or similar then I’m sure we’d take it as to get that calibre of player in permanently would be costly whereas loan deals should be cheaper.

Don.t forget our brilliant chairman Mr Easterbrook main aim was to do the best he could for the club.

Wasn't it the case that his first plans for the club was to have a variety of houses built with the ground and that money made on that side of the venture would go towards the maintenance of the club including the pitch as he knew money would be required for a new pitch in the future ?,?

So another plan must of been put into place??.

Henry will be staying, he loves the club.

As for Jacob and Basil, they will either be on loan at NL or League 2 clubs I’d imagine to continue their progression.

If we somehow got both for a season, it would be some coup but I just cannot see it happening.

I doubt there was another plan and I think it’s clear that the whole process took it out of Steve. When B&U left, the club had nearly run out of money I believe, as back then, commercial and sponsorship deals weren’t in place to help. In reality, staying up that season was huge and gave us the chance to build again, which the club is doing in the background, we’re just not ready to loosen the purse strings yet. Short term pain for long term gain I suppose!

Would be really useful to either have a statement from the board or a fans forum so we can be told clearly what the new updated plan is.

As far as possible we've got to go into a season with a settled squad without loans.

No harm in asking but as you say Glen we're in no position to demand anything.

Compared to the amount of loans we've had very few have worked out, they are a gamble and seldom work out.

These pitches have a 10-year lifespan but of course this depends on usage. By all accounts it has got a lot of usage over the past few years with Virginia Water, Windsor, Chalvey Sports and Langley (I believe Uxbridge briefly as well) all ground-sharing, the regular pitch rental, the B&B and Slough Town Cup Finals etc.

My understanding was that it was due to be re-laid last summer but for some reason wasn't done. Now we're told that we're having to dip into the FA Cup winnings in order to get this done?

That's the understanding Nathan.

The club will not be applying for any governments grants to relay the pitch so the money has to come from somewhere.

it may be that the club does not meet the requierment to gain funding as the national lottery only accepts bids from :

  • constituted voluntary or community organisations
  • constituted groups or clubs
  • registered charities
  • not-for-profit companies or Community Interest Companies (CIC)
  • statutory bodies (including town, parish and community councils)
  •
  • But NOT from :
  •
  • individuals
  • sole traders
  • companies limited by shares
  • organisations outside the UK
  • one organisation applying on behalf of another

it is likely other funding sources would apply the same criteria.

A23 isPrivate limited Company with shareholders

as is STFC (23) LTD- and as it is owned by A23 is also with shareholders so both are ineligble fo national lottery funding.

it only takes a few mins of targeted searching to find answers.

Correct Harry.

It's got be a non profit making organisation.

This was pointed out some time ago on this forum.

so if this was already known why are pepole still questioning where the funds for the new pitch will come from - it will have to be 100% from the club, so the question is has this been budgeted for and are all the funds available for the closed season?

IF the club are using the FA Cup run winnings to pay for the new pitch, what was plan b had we not had that cup run?

Very doubtful the club would have that sort of money to spend so we can only guess that without the cup money the club would have taken out a loan maybe combined with some sponsorship.
