v Fleet Town (PSF)

Recommended Posts

Should be a walk in the park against a step 5 side 😏

Fleet are under new management with Jamie McClurg having taken the reigns and seemingly built a very useful side for the level.

On a pitch that can best be described as bone dry and poor this will be a stern test.

I say let’s be positive and go for a 4-2 win.

First friendly (and probably last for this season!) for me tomorrow as it’s local. Hoping to see an improved performance from us for 90 minutes and with hopefully more first team players to choose from and not so reliant on EDS to plug the gaps.

I watched the last half hour so can't comment on what came before.  We scored just after I arrived in the ground, so at least I'm not bringing Jonah vibes.

A match fit Johnny Goddard scores a hat-trick, rather than hit the post, get out run by a 4ft full back, or refuse a shot in the box. One the nameless players (presumably a trialist) spurned a couple of good chances.

Brooking looks handy on the ball and confident travelling up the field against lower league opposition. Not sure it would be such a great idea against NLS teams. And Edge handled the ball more times than necessary which speaks of defensive issues.

But a 1-0 win in thirty minutes I saw, and 2-1 overall.

First half we weren't great, much better in the second half.

Pitch wasn't great, but never is there as it's so uneven plus the slope.

Nice away day in the sun

Real test is if they can play a high tempo good passing game on our home pitch.

Liked the away kit apart from the badge and pointless wording on the back.

No McNamara, Gidaree, Brooks, Holness and of course Ochieng.

Started slowly until the hydration break.

Much better after the drinks break and looked threatening going forward scoring a well worked goal from Shakpoke.

Pick of our first half players for me were Vorster, Quansah, Morrison and Gregory.

Very dominant second half performance and really should have scored 2 or 3 more.

Most of the triallists did well with a big unit in central midfield who took the eye.

Second half stand outs, Oppong, Brooking, Humphrey-Ewers and the mystery big unit 😂

Altogether a good run out with the returning players getting more valuable minutes.

What was the pointless wording on the back?
