Not the kindest of draws against a Billericay side strengthened over the summer and very much holding their own in NLS. Perhaps a bit of a free hit for Billy and the boys. Can't imagine Billericay will be relishing the draw though.

Tough but winnable. Let's see how we get on in the next 2 league games first.

Out of the 31 potential opponents the only 3 which would likely have been worse would be Dagenham, Bedford Town and Kings Lynn. Add in that we are away at New Lodge, and the FA Cup gods really haven't been all that kind.

Given our style of play, there is absolutely no way that it will finish 0-0. I think we have to view it as a 'free hit' and definitely not fret if we are able to concentrate on the league afterwards.

I also think the prize money side of over hyped a bit as well. When teams such as Town are currently collecting £8-10k in gate reciepts for EVERY home game. Then 2.5k or 3.5k from the FA is small beer really and equates to one extra home game with a crowd of 200-300

The prize money accumulates and with every round more money comes in.

Town will probably pick up in total between £3300 to £5500 in the FA cup this season. Welcome for sure but still only the revenue of half a home game. And lets not forget that the opposition team and FA both take a cut of any initial home gate receipts.

It doesn't really become worthwhile until/unless you get a televised home tie. One year we're bound to make it to the 1st Round proper. Hopefully I'm still around to see that! Drawing top-half NLS sides in the 2QR is certainly not conducive to that though!!

Bracing myself for a chastening afternoon in Essex tomorrow. Word is that we might be missing a few. Real shame as on our day I fancy this squad to give a fair few sides higher up the pyramid a run for their money. Still, nothing to lose!
