A great result for all the anti Billyball football… time to stick the knife in … yes we were thrashed by a full time team that has heavy investment and will possibly be NL next year….The speed and movement of Oxford  is something our players have never played against before and proves they are not world beaters but i’m hugely proud of how far we have come ….Fcuk the  FA cup …a few good days out now the drive to Stanway awaits and hopefully a 6-1 for us….

Well said Theo

Full time.

Part time

Big investment v fan owned club.

Saw a few comments.  Dreadful.

Disgraceful etc.

We are Istmian level for a reason and i bet our income is nowhere near the big spenders even in this league

Billy is a very good manager.   Perhaps you prefer Gavins sitting back and us still conceding 5/6 plus goals.

We are not comparing teams/players at the same level.

Anyone remind me which club/level many of Billy's players came from?

Incredibly harsh reaction online from what I’ve seen about the game yesterday. I understand it wasn’t certainly the best showing of us under BH but what did people genuinely expect? And the talk of his ‘football’ is the reason we conceded 6 goals, he can’t manage and then also defend for the players! People are forgetting we lost 8-0 to Maidstone under Gavin, these results are gonna happen when you are simply outmatched by the opposition. Now, back to league football on Tuesday where we have 18 points from 8 games.

I think people are quick to forget this was meant to be a ‘rebuild’ season for Enfield Town after a tumultuous 2 seasons of players coming and going, and more importantly boring dreadful football. We’re only close to 15 or so games in under BH and no Towner was thinking it was going to click this fast and now it looks like we could genuinely be pushing for promotion come end of the season.

It seems some of our fans aren’t willing to really get behind Billy for some odd reason but I do hope he proves everyone wrong by the end of the season and I certainly hope he doesn’t stop playing the way he wants to.

Here here🥴! I’ve started to look forward to matches again, style of football is great to watch. We are going to be beaten at times because the style requires positive and risky tactics and players will make mistakes and it won’t always work as well as we all would like. Keep the faith, we might not be in the promotion group, but we know we can’t compete at the next level yet. In the meantime enjoy the philosophy. of attacking, quick passing football on the ground. Great to watch and good to see the players enjoying themselves.

What really pisses me off is that under Gavin the excuse for our thrashings and dreadful results and dire tactical performances were always put down to budget…. our relegation was because of poor little Enfield Town’s lack of money nothing to do with Gavin being completely out of his depth in the NLS….but when BH loses to a team at the top of a higher division with a massive budget it comes down to poor management…. People have got to lose this “gavin was the Messiah” mentality and realise he was just a naughty boy…. (the older ones might get it )…..

I think it's somewhere in between - I liked Gavin, I really felt for him back end of the second season in the NLS, when things were going badly wrong, and it seemed to be getting to him. We mustn't forget that he got us promoted against all odds (and no, it wasn't just Marcus) and that he kept us in the NLS, again massively against the odds given where we were at the turn of the year. I agree the football wasn't great (maybe an understatement), and it might have been better to just have had a go and got beaten, instead of the slow painful men behind the ball, very little possession football and still get beaten.

And I don't think anyone is down on Billy and his style of football, I think that most of the over the top comments are the standard knee-jerk reaction of football fans when we lose a game (badly), and in the light of day, almost all fans will be happy with where we are, what we have, and how we're playing, even if they were very unhappy about Saturday.

Personally (and I've only seen 2 games so far - 1W and 1L) I absolutely love Billy's brand of football - yes we might get found out against good, well organised sides (Dartford, Oxford) especially if we're not bang on it from 1-11, but it's such a refreshing, fun way to play - I'd much rather we did what we're doing with a likeable team playing likeable football than trying to assemble a squad that's going to grind out results by playing percentages and taking no risks. Would I rather be top and watching Dartford, or where we are... probably where we are, especially after the last 2 seasons in the NLS.

So, I guess I'm saying that I was a fan of Gavin (actually, I'm going to back any manager we have if they're trying their best), just maybe not his football, and I'm now a fan of Billy, and very much a fan of his football.

To be honest Barney i thought Gavin was treated amazingly well by our supporters and board … Most  clubs would have be calling for change considering our position and the football on offer but i can’t remember a single criticism which is astonishing for a side playing as we were….but like i said there was almost an acceptance of relegation all season because of our budget…..
