Torquay vs Slough

A tough game to start after the break, and at Plainmoor. I will imagine that Torquay would want to kick on after a poor result result against Billericay Town. So I can't see us getting a result here, a point if we are VERY lucky.

T orquay have been poor recently and have slipped to 13th in the table  so yes they probably see us as a chance to get back on course but there's a chance of a point for us imo

Ok we need a new manager in because this current set up is going nowhere. If it doesn’t change then I’m close to not bothering again for a while as it’s just far too much frustration for me to take.

Even at half time then down to 10 needlessly then fell apart.

Was Dennis given a second yellow for dissent? If yes he should be utterly ashamed and embarrassed and not saying we wouldn’t have still lost but he certainly made it massively harder

Seasons finished , we need a miracle to stay in the league we are sinking faster than the titanic, the board need to get get a proven manager in at this level with his own group of players , board need to back him and he needs to be ruthless and clear out the dead wood and have a sense of direction

Not going to happen without money I'm afraid. Either the owners haven't got any, or they have but aren't willing to put in into the playing budget.

Either way we're clearly going to rack and ruin; given this and their appalling behaviour over the summer, when are we going to start asking if they're right for the club?

As an idea what about a decent manager and some decent players?

Who do you think would come to Slough and put more money in?

Without decent attendances and money from other sources our budget would plummet along with the club.

I am sure our interim managers are trying their best but are handcuffed by the attitude of the owners and imposed low budgets. Why can they not just come clean and say their priorty is the acadamy. If they cannot,  or will not, finance a competative NLS team just admit it, face reality and let us all move on

My honest answer is no-one. I don't see what would be in it for them.

We're not a club who is likely to ever attract crowds of thousands (even with a winning team) as Slough, despite a large population, isn't that sort of town anymore.

We've also got a long-term lease on the ground, which (as I understand it) commits us responsibility for all maintenance, but without us owning a single brick (so we have no tangible, sellable assets). The ground as it is is barely Step Two compliant and would need major modifications in order to get Step One grading (which requires at least one new sets of toilets and the potential for League Two grading, i.e. space for 5000 capacity and 1000 seats), and there is very limited room for expansion. In other words, there is a complete lack of potential. All of which could be seen as the proverbial albatross around our neck.

For the past few seasons we've been throwing good money after bad to just about keep our heads above the water at this level, and now it looks like the money has run out (or is being diverted elsewhere). It's not like we're a sleeping giant ripe to catapult through the leagues.

So anyone would be doing so purely for the love of the club, not because we're an attractive business prospect. Does anyone have Mark Wahlberg's number? 🤣

People have got to understand that we don't have the money to spend like other clubs in our league, so why spend the little money we have on high wage players that other clubs don't want for a variety of reasons. Let's start planning for next season in the Southern Premier league with a manager that knows how to get teams promoted. I would rather plan now for next season than trying to fool ourselves that we can get out of this situation and then have no plan for next season. If you look at our first pre-season game against Chatham and the team we put out against Torquay today they are completely different and we have lost our way, but we have to now push the reset button for next season with getting the infrastructure right so that we can compete.
