v Bracknell Town (A) (friendly)

Recommended Posts

So much for building on the momentum of our draw with Ebbsfleet… yes it’s a friendly but still really disappointing to lose to a mid table step 3 side. Where was Janneh, Brooks, Spencer, Humphrey-Ewers? Instead we get 5 youngsters to make up the numbers which currently is of no help to us.

Lost 2-1.

Better second half albeit from a very low bar first half performance.

Bracknell missed 3 sitters so really should of been 5-0 up at half time.

Only a friendly but based solely on the first half we looked a dis-jointed dis-organised outfit playing an early pre season friendly.

The worrying bit for me is that the new players we're bringing in are either not up to speed or just not bringing any immediate tangible benefit to the team.

I get the impression that the players and the staff have already accepted relegation and don't seem to be up for the fight, which is a shame. They are probably thinking that if bigger clubs with bigger budgets have been relegated and who had more points than Slough at this point, what hope is there for Slough. We are at the point where teams at tier 3 and 4 (non-league level),are taking the mick now.

Surely the Idea of this albeit last min change from Bracknell's point of view and us needing a friendly was to get a win under the belt, get the confidence up, get the tactics sorted, give players vital minutes and geling ,  yet we have have come away losing to a Bracknell team that has a revolving door of players, one being the 1st choice goalkeeper,  and mid table in the league below, theyre chairman is a laughing stock much like us this season  ,this doesn't look good going forward .....show me the positives because I can't see it getting better at this point , i want to believe but it's becoming harder....no new recruits today either,  no leavers who aren't up to the job at this level too,  if we go down , we won't be back anytime soon just look at the sides that have been relagated too they're respected leagues last few years ....Havant & Waterlooville, Taunton, Welling, Bath, Chippenham, Eastbourne....it would be an uphill struggle

MPR that's utter garbage.

Was you at the game today?

One thing we can't be accused of is determination and effort.

Being organised, playing as a team and lack of quality maybe but not being up for the fight is tosh.

Jordan Thomas, Josh Brooking, Kyle Brooks, Humphrey-Ewers, Shay Spencer, George Vorster, Ruben Shakpoke and Saikou Janneh.

Hopefully we can get an update on all these players that were missing today.

George Vorster is missing because he's still on loan and today scored one and made two assists in BHT's 4-1 win and is described on their x page as 'on fire'.

Have we been watching his displays whilst on loan?

I bet we haven't.

I read elsewhere that we had several youngsters in our squad for yesterday's friendly v Bracknell.

There were two players in particular I noticed that appeared on the pitch in the second half for us  that I did not recognise.

Substitutions were made with no public address announcements of who was going off or coming on ,and substitutions happened during the game quite often without me noticing.

Halfway through the second half I noticed that we had an unknown (to me) number 6 playing in midfield for us.

I hope I'm not doing him a massive disservice to suggest that he wasn't a 'youngster'.

Also.............................

again half way through the second half I became aware of a player on the pitch wearing our number 4 shirt.

The number 4 shirt in our squad number announcement at the start of the season is Henry's.

Was it Henry ?

He never came close enough to where I was standing for me to be 100% sure either way.

I was aware of this player being on the pitch for only a few minutes, and not only when I noticed him was he not able to run, he wasn't able to walk either, not without a very disconcerting and worrying limp.

He was substituted very soon afterwards.

Can anyone who might have been watching the game from near the dug outs say if this was or wasn't Henry ?

Henry wasn’t named in the squad but that doesn’t mean anything

Well, George Vorster was scoring (again!) in 4-1 league win for Burgess Hill.

As above George Vorster scored 1 and made 2 yesterday.

He was also allowed to play in the Trophy which imo was another daft decision.

Being at the game taught me a lot and the vibe I felt. It was game where people didn't want to get injured and I understand that, but playing a game at 50% to 80% doesn't tell us anything. For the youngsters playing yesterday they definitely need strong leaders in the side and on the pitch to help their development. Slough aren't the only team to struggle against lower level sides, but this habit is consistent.  RR makes a lot of thoughtless comments that doesn't help anyone, that no one even bothers to read his comments anymore. It is probably best RR that you move on now to support Reading Town instead.

I'm pretty certain it wasn't Henry.

We did have a 37 year old on the bench who has been a bit player for Langley FC.

I don't think he managed to make an appearance 😏

Do you have any other hobbies apart from moaning?     .
