The Title Race

Ok Gravesend and Canvey supporters lets stop messing up each others boards and talk about who's going up HERE.

Can Gravesend really win all but one of there remaining games? Tricky fixtures still to come include Purfleet (tonight), Sutton Utd, Braintree and Bedford all away from home. Add to that hard home games against Grays and Canvey themselves. WHERE DO YOU THINK THEY MAY SLIP UP?
What about Canvey, has there team spirit gone. Look in the forums at the top of this page to see there own remaining fixtures.
WHERE MIGHT THEY SLIP UP?

HOW MANY POINTS WILL IT TAKE?

IS GRAVESENDS SQUAD BIG ENOUGTH?

WHO REALLY HAS THE BIGGEST SUPPORT? AND DOES IT MATTER ANYWAY.

WILL CANVEYS GROUND PASS FOR THE CONFERENCE? SHOULD THE WORK BEING CARRIED OUT NOW HAVE BEEN COMPLETED A YEAR AGO?
Are you a neutral? If you have seen both sides this season, WHO WAS BEST? WHO DO YOU WANT TO WIN, AND WHY? Can your own side influence the outcome?

Who would you rather play again, next season?

If promoted, who is BEST suited to stay up?

WHO ARE THE KEY PLAYERS?

WHEN WILL IT BE DECIDED?
Lets try and be amicable, is it really that bad to the runners-up? Is it just a game? Or is it more than that?

I can see potential banana skins for G & N at Sutton, Braintree and Bedford (if they continue their current form) and also at home to Canvey.
Canvey appear to have the easier run-in, apart from the Gravesend game and Braintree away.
The upshot of all this is it will probably depend on the last game of the season for both clubs, with G & N missing out on goal difference, both clubs finishing on 101 points.
But then again what do I know?

No they did not. Just goes to show that the title race is far from over. The Fleet have always struggled at certain grounds. Purfleet is one of them. I would have thought by now that thet would have learned by previous trips. The game was a carbon copy of my last trip to Purleet. They are a big side that sit back and wait for you to make a mistake. Gravesend could have played all night and not scored. They would have been better to adopt the same gameplay as Purleet. Interesting to see Canvey fans at the game. Is there something a bit sad about that. Another hard one for Gravesend on Saturday. I would not expect Sutton to play it the same way. Makes the forthcoming game between The two title chasers a real crunch game now.

Thanks Martin, hope you enjoyed the day. The weather saw too the game. Things were impossible out there.
As I see it now the race is even. Which ever team can win ALL of its games will be champions. A tall order for either.
Anybody got any comments, its far too quite around here.
Car Jam

On that assumption carjam your saying the 26th will decide it.

There is one thing for sure though this season is a real nailbiter.

I must admit I thought after our game on Saturday that realisticaly it was over for us but Purfleet, good ole Purfleet, have put us straight back in it again.

ok.. well looking at the games to be played before canvey and gravesend meet.. this saturday sees both teams away, looking at the form stats here form canveys trip to maidenhead looks easier than gravesends trip to sutton..if you look at the home form for these 2 sides it closes up a bit but is still in canveys favour... we have to call gravesends match against croydon a home banker ..which leaves canvey at home to harrow borough whilst gravesend have a tricker proposition entertaining grays.. i would have to say canveys run up to the big clash looks easier, but as we all know stats are for anoraks.. weather looks a bit shoddy for this weekend anyone know what sort of condition maidenheads and suttons pitches are in??

also concerning who would do better in the conf.. i think both teams would survive the first season, i also think both sets of fans will find the football in the conf depressingly defensive and a lot less entertaining (due to the standards of the teams being a lot closer).. i think canveys squad size would make them more sucsessful in the first season but im sure andy ford would quckly build the fleet squad up ... bit of a shame that dover and haynes look set to be coming down and the daggers going up from a localish derby point of view

No, I dont think the forcoming match will decide it. If Gravesend dont start playing the way they were it could be over before that. However, talking of Purfleet, they have done Canvey a big favour.
I suspect though that the truth is they have done Gravesend an even bigger one. Its gonna wake them up. Performances of late had been patchy. I shouldent think that they wil allow that to happen again.
As for the run in, If I were a Canvey fan I would be very concerned about the last three fixtures. As for Maidenhead, if they show the sort of energy and commitment they had at Stonebridge Rd. Quite simply Canvey will need to be at their best to gain a victory.
Car Jam
