Ash Download

Recommended Posts

Just downloaded the new Ash single onto my works PC.

Only problem is, it's 4.7MB, so I can't put it on a floppy, which means I'm now going to have to bring my CD writer to work and install the software onto my work PC etc. just to hear the damn thing!

It's a .wma file too, and I was expecting it to be MP3. Should still be able to convert it though, I'd have thought.

I'm so crap at this sort of thing.

What I did was buy a flash disk drive, which is about the size of a pen, and just plugs into the USB port. Holds 128 megabytes and costs about £30. You use it just like a floppy disk but it holds nearly 100 times as much.

Alternatively you could email the file to yourself, but it will take some time to open.

Ok, Rob. I've taken your advice and bought the BabyFlash.

The iPod is going back to the shop tomorrow, so Thornsy, if you've been struggling to find one, Dixon's will have one from lunchtime tomorrow!!

Now all I need is some advice on some cheap/free download site, and I can start downloading some music.

(Always said I wouldn't do this - it's killing the music industry!)

Funny you should mention that, they were saying on the radio that there is currently a massive clampdown on it, and random users of sites such as kazaa etc. are being tracked and having their computer equipment confiscated and bank accounts frozen!! Seems a bit over the top and I'd be amazed if they targeted more than a few people, but I'll see if I can find any related news articles

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3545839.stm Here we are, this is the paragraph that I suspect will worry some people

"Civil liberty and lobby groups feared that the music industry will also use the law to mount raids on the homes of people who swap songs via file-sharing systems such as Kazaa."

I realise they've said this before, and never really done it, but some people think they're going to get a lot more aggressive this time
