Bringing Gallic Flavour to the Terraces

Recommended Posts

When he came on at Aldershot, Moussa Sidibe terrified the home defence with his speed and athleticism. I gather from Andy's comments that he doesn't speak much English, so it's been difficult getting across that's he needs to track back & provide defensive cover if the attack breaks down. Might I suggest 2 things:

1. Andy recruits a French translator, so the Moose can have a bit of specific input before going on. If she was young & tasty, as well as French, surely this would have a knock on effect on the whole team's morale? Someone working in one of the local schools or colleges?

2. We can help him feel more at home, with his own chant, in French. Those of you who've been to a rugby match featuring France will be familiar with the simple refrain:

Allez La France!

Allez La France!

Allez! Allez!

So easily adapted to:

Allez Moussa!

Allez Moussa!

Allez! Allez!

Or, if you prefer something faster moving:

Come on you reds! Come on you reds!

Come on you reds, come on!

Come on you reds! Come on you reds!

Come on you reds, come on!

can easily become:

Allez Moussa! Allez Moussa!

Allez Moussa, allez!

Allez Moussa! Allez Moussa!

Allez Moussa, allez!

Any takers?

The French Assistant I had at school was absolutely gorgeous, and she even agreed to pose for my photographic classes (Fully Clothed I'm sorry to say).

However, as she will probably now be in her late 50s/early 60s she is probably not what you had in mind. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

We had two rather delightful young ladies at different times, as I remember, one blonde & one brunette. Which one posed for you Mr H?

I can remember how my friends & I used to wet ourselves watching the younger staff & sixth formers make wet idiots of themselves pursuing them. Harry Hunt (English teacher) was always to the forefront as I remember. And there was some rumour about a Head Boy following one of them back to France, so fierce was his unrequited passion.

Dave, I was there from Sept 1966 through to 1973, in the same year as your younger brother, I believe. Think the blonde was the first assistante, probably came when I fist started. She used to wear a green coat & very short skirts. Believe the brunette came later, when I was about 13 or 14. Don't believe we had any when I was a 6th former & might have been tempted to make a mug of myself.
