Petrol prices...

Recommended Posts

A price of a litre of unleaded is now on the brink of hitting 80p. The fuel protests of a few years back were triggered in part, when the price of fuel also hit the 80p per litre mark. The guy that organised the last protests, some taff who I believe is now a Tory Welsh MP, is now talking of the possibility of more protests that may include the blockading of petrol refineries, that if last time was anything to go by, nearly crippled the UK. Now I'm not that reliant on me ole'jam jar, but I do choose to motorbike it to work each day. The fuel prices in this country are a joke and surely petrol in this country must be the most highly taxed of any european country. Is it right though to take this direct action? I'm undecided to be honest, I'm sick and tired of the way Blair taxes everything, but potentially causing mass disruption, I'm not so sure???

This time the increase in petrol prices is caused by the increase in oil prices. The petrol price in Germany has shot up too. Of course there are many countries where petrol is less highly taxed, but the OECD countries need to find better ways of reducing energy prices than making war on oil producing countries.

with tax being such a high proportion of u.k fuel prices the changes in the price of oil seem to have less affect on us than say in the states.. but then that becuse they have one of those free supply and demand type countries rather than tax central nanny state britain.. as for distruption and protests.. im all for it, but dont protest about the price of oil going up, [****!!****] happens thats just the way it is protest about the fking ludicrous tax .. natch they will come back with some total bollox about global warming, despite cars now being the most efficent burners of fossil fuel on the planet.

technology will solve the problem of carbon burning not tax..

i think its time for a damn good civil disturbance

the culture of the chav has been far more resiliant than i expected.. ok 20 yrs ago you could expect a youth fashion to hang around for a few years but these days they last about 6 months tops.

this one shows no sign of dieing out yet ..

looking forward to seeing old chavs wandering around in 10 yrs time just like you used to see old rockers and mods and punks and ...etc.etc.etc and i can also envisage a chav revival in 2013

Locally we range from 78.9 to 81.9 - and the problem is that people will still go to the 81.9 garage - why??? If you go to the cheapest, the dearest will have to lower their prices - and as they are BP - I think they can afford it smash.gif

Oh, the most expensive I know is a independant garage in Rainham, near the Cherry Tree, called Power something, their price for a litre of unleaded is nearly 90p!!!!

I know the one. Very nearly filled up there until I saw the price. Jumped in the motor and drove off. Should get a free jet-wash at those prices.

Wow! Just returned from holiday and find petrol at these ridiculous prices.

If it's increased in price due to a shortage how come it's still so cheap abroad? In Crete it was between 75 and 80 cents per litre - around half what we are now paying. Diesel is even cheaper over there, as it is in most countries.

The truth is the government didn't dare slap more tax on in the budget and this is a sly way of getting round it.

I reckon the price increase is to pay for Blair's pension fund!
