Former leagues

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting at home just now converting old league tables into the new website. It takes some time, because I have to make a html-table for each of them, but I will be finished with it by tomorrow, I reckon.

But the oldest league table I have (not counting a couple from the 20's and 30's which is not end-of-season-tables), is from Essex Intermediate League season 1966/67.

Question: Which leagues did we play in before 1966? If I knew that, it would be easier, maybe, to search after information!

I would be grateful for any help!

1890 to 1914 Romford & District League.

When the 1st World War ended we joined the Mid-Essex League until 1947.

We then competed in the Southern Essex Combination until 1966. We then became founder members of the Essex Olympian League and stayed there til 1971. In 1971 we became founder members of the Essex Senior League.

I don't think we have actually played in the Essex Intermediate League. Don't quote me on that though!! Have you got a link to your site?

Well Ryan, if you look at my signature, you'll see the link... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

www.btfc.no

The info I have gathered is this:

1966-1971: The Essex Intermediate Football League

1971-1977: The Essex Senior League

1977-1979: The Kingsmead Athenian League

1979-20xx: The Isthmians League

Thank you for the other information!

I have some newspaper cuttings which shows that we in 1926 played in Chelmsford & District league (3.div.)and in november 1931 played in the Chelmsford & District league (2.div.), and the reserves in the Brentwood league.

When I got time to scan, I'll also put up on the site old match reports from league, cup, junior and reserves from 1926 and 1931!

There's an option on here to obliterate peoples signatures, an option which i took, hence why I couldn't see your link. But we got there in the end!!

Didn't know that, but I'm glad you made it! If you register at the site (takes only a few seconds), you'll get access to even more!

Thanks for the info provided, hope to see you soon!

As far as I have found out, the Essex Intermediate League is the same as Essex Olympian League. They changed name, but I don't know if that was already under the first season, or afterwards. If anyone knows, please come forward! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've checked this out now. We played in the Essex Olympian League as you say. What made me a bit confused was that the Essex Olympian League changed named to the Essex Intermediate League in 1986, so therefore I assumed that it was the correct name. Didn't know about the name change before.

Have anyone heard about Billericay Thursday FC? They played in the South Essex Thursday league in 1931, at least.
