Southern League Division One East club Boreham Wood's pre-season campaign will kick off

belatedly at Meadow Park on Saturday, following the cancellation of a scheduled match on Tuesday.

Wood are looking forward to two home matches in quick succession, after their game at Edgware Town was called off because the pitch was not suitable for play.

They host Nationwide Conference South title-favourites Hornchurch on Saturday.

Wood reported back for training on July 1st with six new signings. Marvin Samuels from Harlow Town, Danny and Nick Cowley from Hornchurch and Tilbury respectively, speedy striker John Coley from Arlesey Town, Adam Shafer (pictured) from Wingate & Finchley and Stuart Lochhead from Hitchin Town have all been added to the squad by manager Ian Allinson.

Goalkeeper Noel Imber, striker Sammy Winston, who scored 41 goals last season, and centre back Ryan Moran have all been retained. Defender Fergus Moore and Nick and Dominic Grime are also back at Meadow Park.

Pat Gradley, Robbie Kean, Deji Davis, Gary Dixon and Joe Baker have all been released.

Allinson said: "I'm looking to work with a quality squad of no more than 15 players. The strength of our reserves and our younger players will mean I can promote youth into the squad when required."
