Billericay 1-1 Southend

Recommended Posts

Decent result, not necessarily the best performance, but Southend showed their class first half in particular when they looked a lot quicker and more decisive than us, hurrying us into unforced errors.

After the break we settled a lot better, the pace of the game dropped a little and we were able to knock the ball about a bit better. Broughton scored for them first half, McSweeney for us second half.

Trotty went off injured, at this rate we may struggle to find a team to play Heybridge <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Team

McCarthy, Herrera, Dormer, Trott (Henty), McSweeney, Gallagher (Quiston), Hunter (Kanyuka), Fergus (Everitt), Cousins (Black), Hockton (Stowe), Allen (Wareham)

You’re a hard man to please Simon.

I thought the performance was V/good, The fact that Southend had to put first choice players back on, after taking them off speaks volumes.

OK they had a 3-3 draw with Dagenham, but you must realise they were 3-0 up until near the end. They took their foot off the pedal and got caught out last few minutes.
This would have prompted a very stern team talk, and a reminder before our game not to let that happen again, and to make sure they put in a good performance.

All in all, a good performance and result for Billericay.

A "Well done" to our players and management.

from the report at www.thisisessex.co.uk

McSweeney added he expects to join Town in the next few days after producing another pleasing performance. "We're still having talks, but hopefully things will be sorted out soon," he said.

"It's a great little club which is ambitious. I only live around the corner and we could do really well this season."

Yes, agree Canv, a poor choice of grammar. But must say its at the right level for the Ricays of this world ( Great Little!!).

Talking about Ricays, hows our old chum Gazza, he like us, will be looking forward to saturday it seems.

Gazza, I know that us 'marsh rats' are ascending faster than you can fly but we must always remember our rivalries, it wouldn't be the same without the banter, we go back a long way, and I have changed signatures a few times in recent years even Canv has lost count now. :-)

I dont think Canv will be there for the game but I will be, lets hope its a good one and we thrash the life out of your 'Great Little team..

200 and something at a Margate game last season I think. You never know we might beat that figure when we're playing Leigh RMI on a cold November night!

Gazza - So bitter now a days!
Sham, we used to have some fun on the boards in the past.
Gazza, yer not hitched again, perhaps thats the problem..
The Burgers at your place, still crap? ;-)

Bitter? Me thinks you presume too much. Just gonna sit back and enjoy the season, mate. The nature of re building the team and club is to take a step back and come back stronger...We'll pass you. While we're going up, you may come down...don't worry, we'll give you a wave
