The FA Cup fourth round Qualifying

Recommended Posts

Uncle Urchin - have you actually read the thread. Absolutely no mention of 'just a pub team from Essex' apart from what seems like one of your own people. And I think the fact that, with one exception, we're not over the moon about the draw and have said that it could be a tight game actually shows a lot of respect to your team. So stop the s**t stirring and let the players do the talking in a couple of weeks time.

ha ha...sh*t stirring as you put it is all part of the build up...we don't wait for others to call us names..we do it ourselves smithy to get the banter going...

if you want me to be serious I'll say this...I think its a tough draw but one we can win...especially with home advantage....you lot probably think the same so no offence will be meant and none taken by us...

good banter...a good cup tie and a good drink win lose or draw is our motto....

anyway...you're just a pub team from kent...

Only my opinion, but what a sod of a draw.

When you look at Canvey v Hallen, Lymington v Woking, Shots v Maidenhead, Stevenage v Leyton/Hendon, once again we get the short straw!

Quite right, Stu. Our FA Cup 4th qualifying round draws for the three seasons before this one were of course (in chronological order) Burton away (our Ryman-winning season - Burton were in the Unibond then, but were near the top and went on to be champions), Margate at home (Conference rivals) and Exeter away (just relegated from the league), so we certainly have been hard done by recently. However, we did manage to win two of those three ties, of course...

Lets not forget last year, in particular - we feared for getting through at Exeter, but we did so, only to draw Chester away - yet we got through that as well - lets repeat similar feats this year!!

On Sunday, I spent a few minutes deciding what would be my least favourite draw & realized it was a toss up between another Conference Club away (my condolences to Farnborough, Leigh & York) & travelling to a club from a lower level, but with stashes of cash. So my joint bete noires were Barnet and Hornchurch away .... & hey presto!!!!

Time, calm reflection & the wise observations of those posters, reminding us of previous occasons when Lady Luck was also dropping mumber twos above our heads, as the balls were coming out the bag, have together calmed me down a little.

So much so that this will give you a fair idea of my current, much more philosophical, frame of mind:-

There is parking behind the stadium for about one hundred and if its dry there is additional parking (up on the top field). You may park on Bridge Ave, but beware traffic wardens, trying to earn their gold stars, wheels on curbs is a no no

I reckon they'll smash all your car windows so the man from Bryco makes a packet installing his new double glazed windscreens in your motors...

I'm possibly the only person who doesn't know this . . . but do Hornechurch have a wealthy benefactor?

If money talks they surely have to be "hot" favourites for this fixture considering this season they have recruited ex-League/top Conference players and employ a full time playing staff with gates under 1000.

Last season, in a reserve fixture at Stonebridge Road I recall them turning up in a team coach with the logo Hornechurch F.C. on it. How many non-league teams can afford their own team bus? (I'm assuming they owned it of course!)

Of course money doesn't win games as the Fleet have proved time and time again. My bet is a draw with us to win in the replay at Home.

we've done away with the logo'd team coach..the reserves use it now...to crass by far.....

no one notices the executive pullman with the blackened windows and the three hostesses that the team travel in nowadays...very low key...

our bryco benefactor fcked orf with all the money from last seasons FA Cup run and the blonde triplets that worked behind the urchins bar....

he was last seen at the daggers handing out free shirts to female supporters...

apparently he was wearing thigh length moon boots with frills on .....

Surely you chaps must still have a benefactor of some sort, though? The likes of Caskey and Jackson can't come cheap.

Your team must be permanently shagged out......nice way to travel though.
