SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

People automatically criticise South Eastern for delays due to weather, but we are not responsible for the condition of the rails and such like - we, as a company, have to pay for a pathway for each and every seperate train. More delays are caused by Network Rail's shortcomings and vandalism by your fellow members of society than anything else.

OK so who do I blame for the fact that there was no heating on the train this morning?

Best bit was the driver apologising for the lack of heating when we got to Blackheath.

Claims he didn't know until a passenger told him at Woolwich.

So the heating in his cabin wasworking then!

Oh yes. If it hadn't have been working, your train would have been cancelled under health & safety.

We can't have a driver feeling the cold whilst driving.

I'm serious, btw.....

It amazes me that a bit of snow falls and our whole education system collapses. They interviewed a teacher on TV and she said that we are closing the school for health and safety reasons. Also we don’t want parents driving their kids to school (these being the mums in the huge 4x4). My <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" />. It’s just bone idle teachers wanting a day off! This then caused problems at work as the school’s that did open then shut at lunch time and the parents that were at work then had to drive in dangerous conditions to pick up their offspring. If there's not enough teachers or kids to open the school then just let them go outside in the snow and play! Rather than having them hang around street corners throwing snowball at the traffic!

On Wednesday my office put out an e-mail saying we could leave early if we wished (I work in Rochester near Blue Bell Hill), but we would have to make the time up next week!

<deep breath> I feel better now! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Its that US Culture - which says that if a child injures themselves at school, due to ice or snow, the school will get sued. So, Head Teachers panic & send kids home rather than take the chance.

Ironically, the conditions were probably better at normal school leaving time on both Thursday & Friday, than at the time, they were sent home ealy !!

Sorry Alan , but you are wrong.........I know what you are refering to,(the sue happy climate) but thats not the culture in Schools here.

We have snow anywhere from 5 to 7 months, the only time School is cancelled is if the driving conditions are too bad. Could you imagine the chaos if the schools were closed for all that time.

Wassa matter with the kids today ?

I can remember, as a little lad, in the 1950's, walking to school with the snow coming over the top of me wellies !

We'd all sit round the teacher whilst she sucked a Murray-Mint and exhaled now and then, just to give us a bit of heat !
