Comedian Dave Allen, famed for his dry, witty routines, dies at the age of 68.

Unique Irish Catholic comedian, who wasn't afraid to take the micky out of himself and his beliefs!

Met him a couple of times at Butlins, Bognor. (Summer of '63, I think ?)

 

His brother was camp comedian and Dave and his Mum came down to spend some time with Johnny.

 

Johnny was brilliantly funny, but very eccentric. If my memory serves, he ended his life by sky-diving off a multi-stori car park.

 

A sad loss to comedy on both counts !
