TOP 10 PLAYERS TO HAVE PLAYED FOR THE TOWN

Recommended Posts

HH6

If you had bothered to watch what was going on you would have seen from the start that many Basildon players were deliberately seeking to pull players back and trip.

Number 5 deserved to go. He should remember that he is supposed to play the ball and not make 2 footed lungest at the player.

Also number 9 was lucky to stay on the pitch. He did not deserve the first booking but having been booked he should ensure that he retreats 10 yards at free kicks and not go racing to the spot where the ball is to be kicked to delay it.

You have to accept that the better side won last night.

enfield never got away with anything then last night steph.

green should have gone for an elbow,

rudi hall should have been booked for diving and there was plenty more.

another example of an inadequate refereeing performance in favoure of town

Basildon 3 & 6 should both have gone for double teaming one of our players twice in a five minute spell.
Basildon 2 should have gone for spitting at one of our players.
Inadequate refereeing performance in favour of Town, don't make me laugh.

everyone has their opinion. i suppose i was a basildon fan so seeing game in different light. rudi hall was booked later in the game but not for diving in first half. was a massive platoon but i didnt see any snipers. if the ref had done his job then he would have gone in 2nd half. i thought town players went down very easily but basildon are rough side.

was very shocked to see the basildon physio entering the field of play and almost starting a fight. thought that was a disgrace. bad enough when players do it. and what was basildon keeper doing!!!!

Thought that was a bit odd of the keeper, he seemed quite rational (Well compared to most of them!), & considering we were all 90-100 yards from the incident he must have damn good eyesight!!!!!.
Didn't realise the physio joined in, as you say, that's disgraceful.
Rudi was brought down right in front of us twice in the first half, they were either penalties or a booking for diving, instead, neither decision was given (To be fair, the first was a stone dead penalty,
couldn't have argued if the Ref had gone against Rudi for the second though).
Basildon relied too much on the rough stuff, once we scored they started to play some decent football to try & get back into the game.
Roll on Saturday!.

Daniel Clarke instead of Billy Cove ? Are you drunk again mate ? Anyone know Coves statistics ? seriously though , its got to be WHO will partner Cove up front in any greatest town team . ( in my eyes )im sure cove made as many as he scored and was an all round better entertainer .

It's like I said, 68 goals and 29 assists for Clarke in only 2 seasons. The totals are as follows:-

Clarke: 115 games, 71 goals, 33 assists

which gives him a strike rate of 62% for scoring and 29% for making goals.

Cove: 34 games, 18 goals, 15 assists

which gives him a strike rate of 53% for scoring and 44% for making goals.

So as a striker I would rather have the man with the 62% strike rate.

Just goes to show how we all see the game diffrently, I thought Basildon were very disciplined in the 1st half, didnt really pose any threat to us but spoiled the game enough to stop us being any real threat either, they didnt argue with each other or the ref & i was dreading the 2nd half to be honest.

I dont know what Basildon put in the half time cuppa but they completely lost it from the start of the 2nd half, crude challenges, mouthy wind ups, & spitting (no 2)worked against rather than for them, what was with the "double up" challenges as well, cant say ive ever witnessed 2 players being booked for the same challenge before.

The ref was dreadful for both sides, some bizarre decisions that do seem less bizarre in this league as the season goes on, what on earth was that about when he sent the Basildon player off?

total fiasco, ending with 13 minutes of injury time.

Thought our boys did great in 2nd half though, for me Smudger stood out & thought Dean Greene (where does he play?)& Rudi worked tirelessly.

Cant wait for Saturday, good luck tonight BN1, but.....C'MON BOWERS!!!!!

Clarkey was involved in 104 goals in 115 games.Shouldn't we seek to get HIM back. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

NO!!

Take a look at his stats on his return last season, when the league was vastly improved since his 1st season.

Agree again with nonleague fan & his comment on "missed percentage" & "should have passed but chose to shoot & missed percentage"

The all too familiar image of the Cat & others stood in the box with hands on hips after another "non cross or passed oppotunity wasted" is all to clear.

Bring back Ian Cooper!!

I believe if jim had kept cove and cooper up front last year we would be out of this league . they was just getting an understanding together and the team was playing well , So Jim decides to bring back Clarke to upset the apple cart , and boy didnt he !! anyone wanting Clarke back rather than cooper bunn or cove has a complete lack of knowledge where football is concerned .

Totally disagree about Cooper. He started well for Town but when the pitches got heavy he just didn't play well. Congrats to hium now though, he is cldearly doing well, he just didn't didn't consistently for us.
