Grrrrrr!

Margate have equalled our run of three consecutive KSC final victories today - 2-1 v Dover, with Che netting their first.

Go on Slarti, I know you'll have something to say about this (which I suspect I will wholeheartedly agree with).

Well the first thing that should be said is congratulations Margate.

Secondly what a beautiful day to watch a cup final, not too shabby a crowd either, a similar number to the one that saw the first four goals we put past Margate the last time we got to the final (of course quite a few of the Margate fans b*gg*r*d off before the fifth goal went in ).

I am sure that neither Margate or Dover give a t*ss about us putting out the schoolboys side in the semi-final and I hope both sets of fans enjoyed the day, I would just have rather been there myself watching the start of another run of KSC wins by the Fleet.

Will we make the same mistake next year?

In some ways I hope so, because if we had been in any danger of relegation then I would have agreed with the team selection.

Personally I think we should either not enter the competition next year or win it. My preference would be to win it because I don't expect us to win anything else.

Yes well done Margate, shame about your second relegation in two years, but I'm sure it's great to win the KSC. and if it means we don't have to end up playing 5 games in 11 days, and waiting a month at the end of the season to play in the trophy final, then I'd just as soon go out in the first round of that competition. Now the FA Cup that's a different matter

Its actually their first relegation and the fact that we had to play 5 games in 11 days had nothing to do with the KSC oh and the final was only a fortnight after the end of the season apart from that a well thought out post, well other than the bit about going out in the first round of course we don't enter the competition until the quarter final stage.
The fA cup comment was a bit stupid as well but other than that a brilliant well thought out post.

Um.... it's their second relegation, as they were relegated from the conference in the simplest of terms, agreeing to drop out as they didn't have a ground last season and were still sharing. I'd call that being relegated in one form or another, as they dropped out of the league.

Thank you harry, I take it that's your seal of approval, and that this must mean that I am right?

Nope!

Margate resigned from Conference National, they weren't relegated. The effect may be the same, but that's as close as it gets.

I think it's a tad unfair on Margate. To say they were relegated implies that they were in the bottom 3 when they weren't. they finished 16th last year (where we would have been this season if it wasn't for a better goal difference than 2 other teams).

If the worst had happened this year and we were booted out of the conference, I think we would be quite offended had someone said we were relegated.

You have to be relegated by someone else, you can't do it yourself. The fact that they jumped before being pushed is merely semantics I know, but let them keep a bit of pride.

They were pushed though. The league was going to relegate them anyway, as we would have been relegated, to use the term, had anything come of the FGR thing.

They were removed from the league and placed in one lower down, so that constitutes being relegated.

Or.... They RESIGNED from the conference voluntarily and were therefore not relegated, as this has to be done by someone else.

We're not gonna resolve this I feel

The word your looking for is demoted which is not the same as relegated. Just goes to show birds don't really know much when it comes to football-get back to the washing up love.
