HORNCHURCH

Recommended Posts

If anyone got the NLP today, you'll read an article mentioning that they may be pushed out of the Nationwide Southern league. Fair nuff...if that is what is going to happen, I'm not going to comment on the unfairness of it. I feel for the club and their supporters but I'm not going to be drawn on is it fair as I don't know the full facts.

I will comment on that Maidenhead may get a reprieve and stay up. Why? They haven't earned the right to stay in the league, they were relegated. If anyone should go up it should be the losers of the feeder play off's. I've read the "hyper bole" answers by the chairman of Maidenhead and their manager and what a couple of pricks. Basically publically rubbing the Hornchurch faces (supporters and club officals)in it!!! And the last comment their manager made was quite amusing..."We can concentrate on surviving another season in the Conference South"...So the season has just finished and you're talking about surval in the next season...Kick the [****!!****] out!!!

Which brings me to another point...Why on earth does the NLP insist on getting a quote from Borg and Harding? Are those two now really Siamese twins? Borg makes out he is so concerned about the players, their families and the supporters...Jeez...leave it alone the both of you...what is it? Someone should tell 'em that people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones...

Sorry, just made me see red....rant over...Best of luck Hx in whatever league you're in...I hope it's in the Ryman, then together we can really get into Braintree and [****!!****] 'em up!!!

The NLP seem to have a real downer on Hornchurch. I think most Maidenhead fans are embarrassed by the situation. They know their side isn't good enough and woould feel embarrassed about keeping their place in Conf South on default.

It's a bit like the Basingstoke/Hendon situation last season although Basingstoke did go on and prove themdselves in Conf South.

I think it is "normal" in these situations for a club to get a relegation reprieve rather than an additional club to get promoted.

Two things do puzzle me tho:

1) Why Hornchurch didn't apply for Ryman Prem instead of Ryman 1 as it appears the Ryman prem. is virtually a walk round the corner to every away ground? I do find it ironic that they get a quote from Borg as I understand he is still one of the parties trying to shut Hornchurch down. It.s never nice to see football clubs struggle. We all know how close we were to the same fate. I wish Hornchurch all the best.

2) How can you write "[****!!****]" on here without it get bleeped out?

Gazza, morning. Not that we need justify ourselves to you, but glass houses? We could talk about the recent history of other Essex clubs too you know.

Braintree have made a (admittedly small) profit this year. We remain solvent. I'm sure my manager would love to have been able to match the wages paid at Hornchurch last season, but we choose to run a tight ship - spend what we earn - all that sort of stuff.

That said, although we've not enjoyed last season in Connie South, we have no problems with the Revenue, our league or the FA. That we could all say that?

The NLP phoned me on Friday and asked for my view. Those that know me, know that I am not the biggest fan of that particular publication. However, the list of Hornchurch creditors is a matter of public record (lodged with the High Court). Given the situation, I think my statement that I am not "entirely happy" is both a restrained and reasonable one.

I could say so much more and may choose to do so at the appropriate time. Like others, I am watching and waiting to see what happens over the next few days. I think we are all familiar with company, insolvency and libel law.

You couldn't really exepct the 3 clubs who finished 2nd / lost in the play-offs to suddenly have to play another round of play-off games to decide who goes up... As such a reprieve from the drop is in order.

On Q1 it could be they're following the AFC Telford route of reforming the club under a slightly new name. As I recall AFC Telford then re-entered the pyramid in Unibond div 1. You can't just pick and choose your division you know...

I think the leagues beef is that they applied for administration after they couldn’t get in play offs so the 10 points lost for doing would be wiped next term whilsit maybe still being in admin fair enough as although I do thing that you should as team in finical trouble be fined points for goi9ng to admin as I think that it protects you from losing players etc; although its bending the rules and against sportsmanship they are not the only club to do it Cambridge uinted spring to mind here will the connie go no actually we don’t want you course they wont as they have a decent ground by connie standards so good day out for clubs with how should we say below sea level factlies also from my won and only visit to the ground they played i have got a lovely big bag of cocunts as they had won why ohh why which shows they have a good sense of humour and it was one of my funniest moments at a football ground without a team i support playing. Also Cambridge city would have far less chance of playing Cambridge in a derby as if they were chucked out of the connie thye couldn’t met them in the bob lord challenge (I think that’s right got a mention in this weeks zoo as they ahd piece comparing Kidderminster with Chelsea frankly that publication has disgrace itself as they have not gone to the club who finished bottom of the league and have serious financial difficulties I will be using a friend who works for Sutton images a company that does all the F1 if he can find a guestimate of the cost for me I am sure Cambridge fans would love to know that they could do boycott zoo ala Liverpool boycotting the sun) end of rant. Deepest sympathies simon as that must be a terrible feeling right now especially with all man us better players available following the clubs recent name change to the tampa bay devils with satan himself in the hot seat

...Ahhhh, justify yourself? Not to me, I never asked you to justify yourself to me...But I take it you feel that you do...

A little contriversal during the close season? Ever thought to say to the NLP, "no comment"? I mean, you've been waging a forum war against Hx and UU on this and the Isthmian froum since Xmas, so there was no need to re state your position in the paper...

As I said, made my blood boil...Rant over...

He said "I don't have to justify myself to you", which is perfectly correct, he doesn't but he still felt he needed to...

As to where I post it? That is my choice...

I feel quite..err...sorry is the wrong word but it'll do, for the Hx supporters. Some (most?) of 'em came in a couple of seasons ago and have stayed true to their cause and loyal, which is worth applauding. Cheeky and enjoy a banter as well as comiserating when things don't go well for us, my thoughts go out to them at this time.

I can't understand why people would want to continue to kick a club when they're down. Fair nuff, certain things have happened at a boardroom and business level which shouldn't be discussed here. Those people who were involved and affected did bring it to this forum (and others) and now feel they have to justify themselves. I'm sure all the supporters wanted was to know for a "fact" what was going to happen to their club without all the bickering!!!

I didn't like it when we went through it before Xmas 2003 and I'm sure they they don't now. Best wishes to those who have the best interests of Hx at heart and we'll see ya on the way up.

Gazza, my primary reason for responding to you was your remark: "Someone should tell 'em that people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones".

We at Braintree try to conduct ourselves properly. Although you may argue we don't always succeed, we do pay our bills! We are not angels (well I'm not - although George probably is ) but when someone like you infers that we are "people in glasshouses" I will respond.

As to the Hx situation, it should not be forgotten that people like George (and all the other creditors) are victims, owed tens of thousands, and are just trying to obtain payment as specified and initiated under the terms of written agreements.

Gazza, ask yourself this. How would you feel if your previous employer had agreed a termination agreement with you and then reneged on it?

Rant over.

PRAISE BE UNTO THE LORD! Folk learn from their mistakes.

C'mon Peter, after all the stick you've given me over the years, it'd be great to hear you justify why Hx should NOT pay their creditors.

Oh, and Gazza, no comment on ... "Gazza, ask yourself this. How would you feel if your previous employer had agreed a termination agreement with you and then reneged on it?"

Then we disagree and I'm sure it won't be the first or last time.

Personally, I'm more concerned about my bad debt.

Hi Gazza.

Changing the subject completely, here's a money-saving scheme that you might care to mention to your Chairman.

Don't bother with your usual suppliers [if you don't pay their bills, you will find that they wont supply you anyway] but borrow a van or a truck, drive over to France and fill it with beer, spirits, cigarettes, cigars etc., and drive it back. You will find that its much cheaper over there. Then stock the clubhouse.

There are a couple of small things to bear in mind. Firstly, the French don't stock draft beer in their supermarkets. Secondly, the health warnings on cigarettes sold in France are printed, not surprisingly, in French which is a bit of a giveaway regarding their source. Thirdly, its a bit tricky getting a till receipt from a French supermarket through the company's books but the easy solution there is not to bother keeping any. Books. Forget the VAT.

Fourthly, and this is the most important thing of all, its illegal to do any of that.

as indeed you should be IW. It is always somewhat irritating is it not when these things happen to us. we too have lost a very large amount of money in the liquidation so I share your view entirely. I am sure that you were also somewhat sad to see the creditors at St Albans not get paid in full. As indeed it is sad to see a similar situation now.

life however shall go on and we'll all get over it. No doubt in due course the Liquidators will report back to the creditors about all aspects of Hx trading over the past 3 years and may very well make some reports about certain activities that will be brought to their attention by most certainly the shareholders and most probably others..

What goes around always comes around I say...

In the meantime I shall leave you with this little greek homily that comes to mind

'when throwing stones be careful not to break your own windows'...

‘ow do Unc. Sorry to hear the news. Good luck to the new company, its new directors, shareholders and sponsors in the future. Let us hope the new club learns the lessons of the old.

As to the similarities to the St. Albans creditors, well, at least their CVA’s paid something to creditors. Thanks to Mr Gibson & I, that club survived in both 1998 and 2002 and although suspended, did not face relegation.

Alas a liquidation provides little if anything to those companies and individuals that have provided their goods and services in good faith. But, like you, I look forward to the investigation by the liquidators (and others no doubt).

As to your little Greek homily - I don’t do windows - have you any experience in this field?

But, hey, it’s all behind us now. I made mistakes, you made mistakes. A brave man tries, makes mistakes, learns from them and moves on. A fool does not learn from his mistakes, while the gutter is the home for those without the ba11s to even try. Good luck and my best wishes to you, Jen & John for the future.

We all know you'll be back.
