bloody right mate! bury the hatchett unite the resources and make Enfield become again the best non-league club in the south of england! i always admired the club and i remember playing a pre-season friendly in 1999 at the Stadium with the bulldozers parked outside.what a sad picture and what about winning the European amateur cup in 1969-70? come on lads, sort your differences out!! be brave

Lovely Stuff, We'll have to agree to disagree on Jim Chandler. I know he was working with one hand tied behind his back, but he did have the players at his disposal. And Loizou kept us up two seasons on the bounce with lesser players, he never gets the credit he deserves for that.

Your proposal is fair, but somehow I doubt that's what was offered! Anyway yes a merger makes sense, but we've been here before. People at Enfield don'twant it to happen, it looks from Steph's post that some Town fans aren't too keen either. I've no axe to grind - if it's what EFC and ETFCfans want then I'd go with it.

My impression is that if the terms are right then most fans would be in favour of a merger, and there is no better time to do it.

Lets not be faceless behind a computer and make our voices count, just cause a vocal minority are against it does not mean it shouldnt happen it just means we the majority need to campaign harder to make Enfield great again.

Bloody best thing that has been written about this whole sorry affair.
I played against Enfield many times at Southbury road and enjoyed every minute of playing against the most famous club in non league football.
Forget the past and merge to make Enfield the club everybody talks about for football reasons, And restore them to the summit of the non league game where they belong .

It seems we are going over old ground again. Lets face up to the facts. Unless the current EFC board agree to the ETFC constitution etc no merger can happen. This will not happen at present. The only way I can see any progress is if an ETFC fans wins the lottery buys EFC outright and then agrees to merge with ETFC by accepting their constitution. Thats 14 millon to one. The more likely outcome would be if EFC or ETFC went down the pan and one team took the other team over.

I supported Enfield for 20+ years and saw some great times. But watching in front of 100 fans at Boreham Wood was even too much for me. I made a decision to move on. I am now a ETFC supporter. I no longer support EFC. I have no hard feelings to those who stuck with EFC and I wish them well for next season (As long as they finish behind us).

I agree there is only room for one top non league team in Enfield. There is only one as far as I see it, as EFC play in Ware.

Finally Loizou was shocking. Some of his teams were appalling. In addition, there is more to being a manager then picking the team. You have to be able to get the supporters behind you. Something George Borg did when he was in charge at EFC. Loizou failed in this from the start. At least Jim is ETFC through and through. He has faults and I am sure he will admit to them but if you cut him in half it would spell out Enfield Town. Until he f$*k up big time I will stick with him.

Lets see if Loizou can keep Cheshunt up this time without the help of a club going into liquidation.

There appears to be one alternative not mentioned and that is setting up a cross club group looking at possible merging of the clubs and also putting in place an infastructure (training facities, youth teams, awareness etc). This group called UFIE (United Football In Enfield) could then be the driving force for having a succsessful club that the borough and its fans desirve.

As a quick poll who would be interested in setting up an intial group and prehaps meet with both clubs. What harm can it do??

great idea son, bridges will have to be built and you can put your pride aside and meet halfway through. come on lads it only takes a few of you to spread the good feeling around again

MK James again you are not constructive. I did not state anywhere in my post that I was against a merger in fact I said that I was for it 2-3 years ago. Now I wont worry about it although I think that it would be the best thng to happen and agree with the comments made by THM, LS Coach etc.

>>Always an E

The olive branch was offered and EFC rejected it. There cannot be a merger without goodwill on both sides and it is clear that there is no goodwill at EFC.

Well if thats the way they want it let them be content with playing in step 4 or 5. There is only one team in Enfield and that team will attract fans, money and loyalty which will push them up the pyramid. EFC can do none of these things and it will whither.

As it is EFC are holding up the progress of football in the borough with their dog in the manger attitude.

The good thing about this season,is that we are both in the same league as eachother for the first time.(so IF a merger were to happen) the team could stay in the league as we are currently in.FA rules state that merged teams must playing in the lowest league of the two clubs.

unfortunatly being in the same league, also makes the teams and their supporters fiece rivals this year. Not congusive with forming closer ties.

well,i am not much into fa legal things but one thing for sure it will have to start from the top and the guys in charge.so if you really want the best for the football in Enfield pick up that phone and start talking, even just saying hello..

Keep going The Horse Mouth and Steph as you are the only two here who make any sense to me about the way we should be heading.

Enfield Town is the only Enfield team in Enfield so lets get on with OUR club and leave other clubs to their own devices.

It looks like people are open minded apart from the three above. What should matter is whats good for football in Enfield not whats good for Enfield or Enfield Town. As far as Enfield are concerned they now have a decent owner in steve whittington who is determined to bring enfield up to a resonable level again. Laz and his little mob of parasites (you know who they were) have long since departed... A plot of land has been earmarked but a long way to go yet. Most of you know me and that I watch both enfield clubs as often as I can and I would like to say it does sadden me that the back biting still continues from a half dozen or so people from the Town side and one or two from the enfield side. most of you all know each other...Its now time this stopped and perhaps progress can be made some day.

Not back biting, I don't have a go about the old club which for me no longer exists, just wanting to get on with MY club and leaving other clubs to get on with what they want.

It is a great shame that there is so much back biting between the supporters over whether we should merge or not. I am one of those who first saw Enfield in the late fifties. Then we had gates up to 4000+. Bridges have to be built and

I agree that a way forward could be the setting up of UFIE.

I would be willing to help, I love Enfield both as a place and also for its football. To get something like this going we need to look at letting the word out. Using the local papers, the non league paper plus looking at those within both clubs who want this to happen.

I feel that we will never get the support of the local council in finding a permanent ground while we are split.

from what i can see there are two lots of supporters:the ones that didn't get on with the board at the time and decided to walk away and form a new club and the ones that don't matter what stuck with their beloved club.there is still a lot of bad feeling but you were both right in what you did.now the time has come to go back together:you belong to the same club called ENFIELD,loizou is not around anymore and together you will be strong enough to force the council to give you a plot of land to build THE NEW STADIUM and you won't have to go around like gipsies begging for charity.i have been at brimsdown when we played you 3 years ago in a league cup quarter final lost with a last minute goal.the supporters were great but i wasn't impressed with the rest and at the end of the day it is not your ground.

i am resilient like that Bowers team whom i was the assistant manager that beat you in the same season at christmas 1-0 with a steve warner goal in injury time and down to ten players in the last half an hour. you won't beat me till someone somewhere will decide that is time to sit around a table and do what is best for the football in ENFIELD.

A lot has been done at Brimsdown in the last couple of seasons and it is now a worthy home for the only Enfield team in the borough and it would not matter if every team in the area got together and asked the council for a bit of land, they would give nothing away.

So shall we set a time and place to meet up and discuss setting up this proposal and what direction we all want to take, What harm can it do?

I am NOT after revenge, I just want to move on and support MY club, the one I made a decission to support, for whatever reason. If we get on with OUR clubs and leave other clubs to get on with their own way of running things then we will all be better off.
