WINDSOR AND ETON: THE FUTURE

So the vast majority of Royalists supporters think merging with Slough is the worst idea since Dennis Greene posed in half-naked in The Sun. Not exactly a surprise.Users of this site in the main are die hard Windsor Supporters and not Joe Bloggs who sits nursing half a Courage best down the Dog & Duck at three o'clock on a saturday ternoon, totally oblivious to the goings on at Stag Meadow.

In my opinion the club would benefit from:

A slashing of the wage bill in favour of playing players almost exclusively from the local area. The club shouldn't be a retirement home for various has-beens and never made it's!

The establishment of a youth and reserve team with long terms aims thats used and supported whole-heartedly by the first team at Stag Meadow.

Whilst still playing at Stag Meadow priority given to cup competions. If the club does not have the desire or ground to play conference football then who gives a monkeys if were top or bottom of the Ryman Premier? Of course if the club were ever to move away from the confines of the meadow then who knows? Cup runs gain the club most in revenue and bring in the most in casual support!

A move by the football club and Supporters club to put in place a plan for the long term removal of Terry Hall in favour of a modern club house and bar.

Free entry to anyone in the borough 16 or under with id.

A campaign to get money and sponsorship of local companies. It doesn't matter if they give £20,£20,000 or put a fixture poster up in the Town get people on board!

Disagree? We'll who can name the most players who attended Windsor Boys school and put on the red and green shirt?

Slash the wage bill, from what to what?

How local does a local have to be? The majority of the squad lives within 20 miles of the ground.

If you read Gary Woodcraft's article in the 1st programme you will see that the aims of the Capital League side are to feed the youngsters through to the 1st team and that they will play the same formation as the first team. The new youth setup will hopefully feed the best young players through the system but it does take time.

How do you give priority to cup games? Does this mean you don't expect the players to give their all in league games which, after all, is what the football season is all about in the first place?

A new two-storey clubhouse has been in the pipeline for several years, unfortunately the funding is not available at present to go forward with the plans.

A campaign to get money and sponsorship. If you can suggest how this can be done then I'm sure the club will listen intently.

Why name players from a school that until fairly recently didn't even include football amongst its sports options and, more to the point, how many Windsor boys attend Windsor Boys School?

Having been at Windsor Boy's recently i'd say only half are 'locals' and the rest are from Slough or even further away. However i agree that the football club SHOULD use that as a source of potential support.

As for the wages. The Chairman sets it. It's up to him and him alone what he pays our players. Rumours say we pay alot. But we don't know that for sure.

You seem to like causing a bit of a stir on the message board but perhaps if you put your name to it you'd be able to talk to the powers that be on a match day.

P.S If you've ever posted on here before it's more than likely Mal knows who you are!

you said about"has beens" and "past it" players ,who exactly are you referring to???

the older players that we have are good enough for this level and in the cases od Dave carroll and paul holsgrove especially, there is plenty of experiance in those sets of boots.Maybe you should check your facts...

100% agree Smudge...

If you do think Paul's past it we're in alot of trouble...after all he won Supporters player of the season last year!

I wish Jesus would pick himself more even if it's only for the last 20 mins of a game. His legendary passes would set up loads of goals with the pace of Wallace and Warner up front!

That's right, Gary & Eugene have designs on the future which is why the reserves will largely be made up of youngsters (16 to 20). They have a plan in mind and have the support of Dave Carroll and the club. They are also already in touch with local clubs to search for talent....local talent. As has been said, it does take time.

As usual the replies here totally miss the point.

Not one person agrees that under 16's should be allowed to watch Windsor and Eton for free!

Nobody wants to see Windsor with a clubhouse fit for the twenty-first century!

Not one person agrees that yes, whilst some of the players the club pays out alot of cash for are experienced and are a POSITIVE too FEW of Windsor and Etons first team have any heart in the club and hang around for any longer than twelve months!

As for finance YES, Mr Simpson et al do invest alot of the time and money into W.e.f.c. Yet what would happen if they withdrew their backing? Blanket collection anyone?

When Mr Williams latest addition becomes of age what will he or she see at Stag Meadow? A club thats moved on from 1992 or the same old same old?

GL, I'm no Windsor fan but I think the Ryman League might have something to say if WEFC let in all under 16's for free at every home game. I believe you have to charge something, though I could of course be wrong. I do think though that certain promotions are allowed every so often, such as 'kids for a quid' and I am certainly in agreement with you that clubs like Windsor and ourselves should be looking to do this on a regular basis.

Didn't we let kids if for free at the last Slough v Windsor match and didn't the local chavs make a bit of a nuisance of themselves and didn't we get critisized for letting them in? But yes in general accompanied kids should be let in very cheaply after all they are the future of clubs like Slough and Windosr.

They used to sell season tickets for £2 in my day via the middle schools. Hugely successfull and many of those who benefited from that scheme are still involved with the Royalists to this day.

As for the "chav" element, they can be controlled. From personal experience is not what you say to the kids, its talking to them on their level. If they were made to feel welcome and a valuable part of the faithfull at Stag Meadow, i can i assure you they'll stick around, as long as were not playing total, parts that is.

Kay was posting from a Slough perspective. Unfortunately most of us do not speak "Chav" - so it is hard to speak to them on their level.

What is chav?

Chav is a derogatory slang term currently in popular usage throughout England. It refers to a subculture negatively-stereotyped as being uneducated, uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behavior. The label is typically (although not exclusively) applied to teenagers and young adults of white working class or lower-middle class origin.

This issue of reserves/youth was first brought up when Dennis Green was maanger some four years ago when he was approached asking if the Windsor Harriers FC could join WEFC to form the reserves along with any other players from Windsor Boys School FC as they were reaching the age to leave youth football. It was arranged that Dave Fouchee would be their manger and about 18 promising lads appeared. Dennis Green then through injury used Ian Gardiner as replacement for Bunty in the First team squad and the remaining lads were then sent packing one by one by Dave who proceeded to bring in 14 FRENCH players half couldnt speak English. After a season he moved on and Chuck took over bring in 14 Morrocans and kept faith with Ian, Adam Goldie,Dominic White and a couple of local lads, so there has always been talent about but miss managed. Last week the Spital team that played the WEFC reserves consisted of 15 old Windsor boys school players that have now gone into local leagues to play as they were messed about by the reserve managers.

Im sure that given the oppotunity by the new reserve management team some could be encouraged to play on Wednesdays for the reserves still allowing them to play on Saturdays for Spital. At least they are local, went to Windsor boys and who nows a gem might be in there.
