Steve Wheeler sacked

Recommended Posts

Basildon United have today tactlessly sacked Steve Wheeler over the phone ahead of tonight's league against Hullbridge Sports.

Steve joined the club at the end of the 1999-2000 season and had spent a large amount of his time bringing the club and the ground back to an exceptable standard.

Yeah I think it was a bad decision considering what he has to work with and what he has to attract players. We hadn't been playing badly we'd just had no luck in front of goal which I suppose counts at the end of the day.

As far as I know, no one else has been appointed yet but I've heard rumours about Peter Reid...

I felt that we played as well as we did against Concord Rangers the game before it's just that Hullbridge were worse. Saying that we did look a lot better infront of goal.

Steve does a lot around the club not just managing the first team and I think that wa sgetting to him so he couldn't concentrate on the team enough...

Hey ! How is Mr Wheeler these days ? Something is stirring down Gardiners Close way - and we haven't been able to say that for a long time, in fact, last nights superb win at Enfield Town made it three league wins in a row and that's the best we have done since Steve's days in October 2000 - when he won four on the trot.

I do not wish to disrespect what Mr Wheeler achieved, but whoever is in charge at the moment is doing something right.

Basilsdon certainly deserved their win against us (Enfield Town) on Wednesday night

Basildon worked hard, chased everything and did the basics very well.

regardless of whether the freekick should have been retaken or not the goal stood.

and the Basildon team worked harder and wanted it more.

well done to you Basildon, please don't do it agian <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Best wishes to the boys from Gardiners close for the rest of the season.
