There is only ONE Enfield Team that play in Enfield and that is Enfield Town.
Where o Ware do the other team called enfield play ?
Is it Borehamwood, Hendon, St Albans, Ware, I've lost track. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />
112 years of existance as opposed to 4 . I know I made the right choice and thats the real E's.

Bad Egg and Blade

What you refuse to understand is that players come and go, managers also depart as do chairmen.

A football club has two things which make it a club - its fans and its history. It is true that Enfield FC (1893) lay claim to the history but the fans are clearly at the Town and now that has a history.

I have more confidence in Town's future than the team that you call Enfield.

Neither Enfield nor Enfield Town hold the essence of the E's for that was buried at Southbury Road - get over it. The E's are dead - long live the Town. And it is my view that the Town will capture the essence that was the E's even if they dont have it already. Witness the giant killings of recent seasons when was the last time that Enfield managed a giant killing. Oh I know it was against Chesterfield and then PNE but there was no Town then!

There are many posters on this board that have written us off for tomorrow. I dont write us off I saw nothing in Saint Albans play that concerned me. They have had recent good results against Dorchester and Eastbourne. But come on the E's would have spat out Dorchester and Eastbourne without blinking and when did the E's tremble when going to Saint Albans.

I was looking at St Albans history. - 1 Semi-final in the Amateur Cup, 1 Semi final in the Trophy. Second Round in the FA cup and Herts Senior Cup victory. Now really is that a history or just flim flam.

The history of the E's which we both share is far better than that and the history of the Town can be better. Come and join us - you know it makes sense or do you really want the E's to be lower than St Albans.

It really is about time the jibes between both sets of fans ceased. We have all made decisions and tough ones too. Town fans should respect EFC fans for sticking with things and, after seasons in decline, gaining promotion last term. EFC fans should respect what we have achieved too in just four seasons. I have no affinity to EFC and see them the same as any other club. In fact, I have far more animosity to a certain east London team that shall remain nameless. However, given the recent history, the jibes are too personal and just create ill feeling on these sites. Let the football do the talking.

The one answer I have to respond to is Bad Egg's comment that the FA should never have let us use Enfield in our title. Working on that basis, one of the Bristol clubs, Sheffield clubs (all 3 of them), Nottingham clubs etc etc should be forced to change names.

Quite Right Mr H.

I am one of the E's fans that go back a very long time and have tremendous memories of the old club. I chose to go with Town and have nothing but the highest regard for those who stayed and kept the old club going. I am very pleased that they not only survive but appear to have forund a level and picked up new fans. I only wish them the very best of luck.

I have said many times that i have no place for idiots from either side of the fence who wish the clubs harm and enjoy the banter with people like eggy etc.

Thank you for the good wishes tonite - I think we shall need them frankly.

In the meantime leave out the crap and get back to the humour!

Jim

its not a stupid comment we are the older club the fa should never have let u have enfield in the name wots gonna happen when we come back to the boro in 3 years time(yes u read that rite) your average joe aint gonna know which clubs which

First things first. You can come back to the Borough whenever you like. However, playing or purporting to be a football team requires a number of things. All of those are possibly acquirable, but unlike one of your number on a forum elsewhere I wouldn't suggest you have a right to them.

And as for what you call yourself, I suspect there might be a murky restraint of trade issue lurking. EFC only called itself Enfielf because that's where it happened to be at the time. It could be equally arguable that the club now call itsself South Herts Something or other. You can't have this both ways 'we don't want you to have our name but don't ask us to change ours 'cos we are no longer there'. That's pretty hippocritical in my book.

My guess is that, failing to move on the extant planning approvals gained in the Borough, the only hope is Donkey Lane. The Council will offer it to both clubs as individual tenants, which they will accept. Game on & survival of the fittest. A risk to both clubs, but if you were making odds there would be a clear favourite.
