You intimate, sir, that 'tis better to be from an affluent area supporting a team at the lowest level of semi-professional football than follow a team from a working class area whose team is one division below the football league . . .

Mmm . . .

depends on what floats your boat.

cash or glory. you've clearly chosen the latter it would seem.

I, Mr Tree, much like yourself, would follow my team in whichever level of football they played . . . at the moment we just happen to be playing at the highest level of non-league football, nothing to do with the working class nature of the area, just having a fairly decent football team . . .

True, though, in footballing terms, I would choose glory over cash, although when circumstances arise when a lone backer injects a lot of money, the ordinary supporter has very little choice in the matter . . .

it's very easy to sidestep the point, then build up a straw man to knock down...

out of interest, do you hail from dagenham? or do you, as you say, follow a successful team from a working class area?

Yes to both, Mr Tree . . .

I am, at heart, a very simple dagger, Mr Tree so the building of a straw man, is not a challenge that I would take to so easily, especially if all you have to hand are those bendy straws, although I suppose you could mitigate the flexible tip by severing just below the first sign of distortion . . .

To go to all that effort, just to knock it down appears to my eyes, creative insanity at it's most profound.
