2005 / 2006 - Move Forward

I've been thinking about this all yesterday and before I make comparisons I would like to thank everybody who has helped out down the club in the past year, especially on match days. Your help has been valuable and is much appreciated by myself and others down at the club.

Comparisons on the pitch are easy to make and that is not what this post is going to do. Off the pitch, the changes, no matter how small are starting to bring our club alive again.

One of the obvious comparisons would be the club house and the improvements made to it. That has enabled us to run functions especially New Years Eve 2005. We didn't have a New Year's Eve party in 2004 - 12 months later, we had one and it was successful. One would hope that 12 months later, the way we're moving forward. it wll be bigger and more successful.

Injury Time - a rock venue which is not only helping to encourage young bands and talent but also, making the club assessable to young people and hopefully encouraging interest in the club.

The 2005 / 2006 has seen the club run and hold various functions from having Chas & Dave entertain us to a casino night to a quiz night. All have been run for the benefit of the club community and have raised much needed cash for the club.

These are changes indeed and small steps have been made to bring the club alive again for the community. 2006 will see more in the way of these changes and with your support move the club forward towards a brighter future.

I know I have only touched on the social side but that is the obvious major growth area, putting much required life back into the club and also a form of raising cash. Yes, some of the functions have been small but acorns and mighty oaks people. If you compare to where the club was 18 months ago, the changes are very challenging.

We have a great club and great support. As the club continues to grow, we all can pride ourselves to helping bring the club back to the community of Billericay. The club requires all our support in all facets of it's life, so lets make 2006 a more successful year, building on these foundations.

Thank you

PS - 28th January 2006, there is a Gentlemans evening being held at New Lodge. A four course meal, a comedian and a Sports Personality - Neil "Razor" Ruddock - will be speaking. Tickets are on sale now - £35.

Comedian is Adger Brown.

Adger has moved into the After Dinner circuit recently and is proving to be very popular. He has spoken at numerous venues throughout the country, the most famous of venues being The Savoy in London for The Teenage Cancer Trust. Adger has also spoken for The Anglo American Sporting Club at their annual Boxing Dinner at The Marriot Hotel, London, The Variety Club of Great Britain at The London Hilton & The Variety Club of Jersey at The Grand Hotel in St. Helier. (Adger is a Barker of The Variety Club of Gt. Britain).
